    Description

I sail, live and work on a classic British sailboat. It's my home and my office. And it sails to amazing locations. Now after crossing the Atlantic and island hoping in the SE Caribbean during the past years, I completed a lot of work on the boat in Grenada, 7 hard months of maintenance and improvements work, as boats like to be taken care of so they can take care of us. Completing boat tasks is probably the most satisfying work ever. Learning & teaching also give me great joy. Once back in the water I sailed north along the east Caribbean islands, then west to DR, Jamaica, Cayman Islands, honduras Bay Islands and Rio dulce Guatemala where the yacht is now in recess while I am away.

Your time on my sailboat can be truly amazing. It all depends on how motivated you are. Other than moving along our Earth with the wind at the proper speed which is a mesmerizing experience, the amount of information and potentially eye opening new encounters with the elements, gear, materials and with yourself is huge. If this is something that you may be seeking, let's connect.

Keep in mind, sailing is 24/7. It's not a 9-5 job 5 days a week. You are expected to be available at all times if needed, and do it all with joy and good energies.

This is a simple, strong, safe and comfortable British built boat. My sailing style is low budget, high energy, slow living, fast action, details oriented, sensual input inclined, conservative and gentle.

Sailing: hand steer, balance the boat, navigating, documentation, keep a sharp lookout for other vessels, objects, weather change, noises, smells, ropes, shackles, and all other items. House work: cooking, managing provisions, cleaning, storage management, waste management, Boat work: fiberglass & epoxy work, scraping & painting, woodworking, seacock maintenance, plumbing, stitching, metal work, diesel engine maintenance and probably more. The materials and tools you'll be working with are usually simple. Learning and teaching is constant and very pleasurable. The work requires good planing, understanding of boat systems and logic (which is a bit different than land logic), and mainly stamina, positivity, energy and love of working with your hands. Work could be noisy and messy at times. The tropics are hot. You will be sweating but the water is amazing. We swim all the time.

    Hébergement

Sailboat cabin. There are two private cabins on the boat. The volunteer will get their own cabin and it's private. I eat fresh, simple, healthy, tasty food and avoid junk food and processed food for both cost and personal preferences. One of us will prepare the food and the other will clean after the meal, alternating roles. We are a 12 volt boat, meaning that 220 volt devices can be charged and worked on when the sun is up and shining. we are energy independent with two large solar panels. In general you are expected to treat the boat as if it is your own - lots of love, care and attention. We do not waste anything. Energy, water, food, space, data, meterials, tools, are all used sparingly as possible and with great care

I am a digital nomad myself. I have a SIM that gives 40 GB/month (avoid AV streaming, heavy DL/UL and it's more than enough). Will get startlink this year I hope. It works on multiple island nations in the Carib. You can get your own local SIM for cellular data as well.
