Echange culturel et opportunités d'apprendre
We’re a well‑travelled family who genuinely enjoy meeting people from different cultures and hearing about their homes, traditions and adventures. Workawayers are welcome to join our extended family dinners, which are lively, warm and a lovely way to feel part of our wider community. We also volunteer at Samford’s parkrun, a friendly local event that’s a great way to meet people and experience village life.
We have a pottery studio and are happy to share basic clay techniques or studio time for those who are curious. We also have a shared work space, and we enjoy supporting Workawayers who are digital nomads or developing creative or business projects — we’re always happy to share what we’ve learned through our own work and travels.
Life on acreage offers its own kind of cultural exchange too: learning how to care for land, understanding the rhythm of rural living, and enjoying the peace, wildlife and mountain views that make this area special. In return, we love learning from the people who stay with us — their stories, skills, perspectives and the ways they see the world.
Aide
We’re looking for a couple or two friends who can help us with a mix of outdoor and household tasks on our 5‑acre property. Much of the work can be done independently, and some projects we’ll do together so we can share skills and make things enjoyable.
Typical tasks include garden and grounds maintenance, weeding, trimming, clearing, tidying outdoor areas, and helping us establish our herb and vegetable garden. We also have a small orchard, and you’re welcome to be involved in seasonal care and harvesting. Occasionally there may be light household tasks, depending on what’s happening that week.
We’re relaxed and flexible — some days you might work on your own in the garden, and other days we’ll work alongside you on a project so you can learn as you go. We appreciate people who enjoy nature, like being active outdoors, and take pride in contributing to a peaceful, well‑kept property.

Hébergement
Workawayers stay in a clean, comfortable private guest wing adjacent to our family home. It’s fully self‑contained and includes a bedroom, bathroom, lounge room, kitchen, laundry, air‑conditioning/heating, wifi and a verandah with lovely views of the property. It’s a quiet, peaceful space where you can relax, work, or enjoy time to yourself.
Two friends travelling together can each have a bedroom except on the occasional weekend when family visits, when they may need to share a bed. The space is secure, private and well‑maintained, and we ask Workawayers to keep it tidy and manage their own laundry. Sheets and towels are changed weekly and we wash those for you.
We provide breakfast supplies, basic pantry items and ingredients for you to prepare your own lunches. We cook dinner for you around four nights a week, and on the other evenings you can use your own kitchen in the guest wing. You’re also welcome to join our extended family dinners when they happen.
You’ll have access to our pool, tennis court, orchard, large library and a shared work studio that’s ideal for remote work or creative projects. It’s a peaceful, comfortable base for Workawayers who enjoy nature, independence and a warm family atmosphere.
Autres infos...
We have four very friendly dogs, so you’ll need to be comfortable with animals and happy to share space with them — they’re part of daily life here and love having people around. Our home is relaxed, respectful and family‑oriented, and we appreciate Workawayers who are tidy, considerate and enjoy a peaceful environment.
A driver’s licence is essential, as Samford has no public transport. We provide a small car for local use, and Ferny Grove Station is close by with ample parking and very budget‑friendly 50c train rides into Brisbane. Many travellers also pick up extra yard or house work with other local families, which can be a great way to top up savings.
On your time off, you can enjoy the mountain trails right from our doorstep, visit Samford Village cafés and markets, explore the national park, or take easy day trips into Brisbane. You’re welcome to use our pool, tennis court, library and shared work studio. We live a calm acreage lifestyle, and most guests find it a restorative place to unwind, create, and enjoy nature.

Possibilité d’accueillir les digital nomads
Our place works very well for digital nomads or Workawayers who need to balance helping with remote work. The private guest wing has its own quiet spaces, and we also have a shared work studio that’s ideal for focused work, creative projects or planning sessions. We’re flexible with scheduling — as long as the agreed weekly hours are met, you’re welcome to structure your days around meetings, calls or deep‑work time. We live a calm acreage lifestyle, so it’s a peaceful environment for people who enjoy nature, space and a slower rhythm. We do have four very friendly dogs who are part of daily life, so you’ll need to be comfortable with them being around. Our home is relaxed, respectful and tidy, and we appreciate Workawayers who enjoy contributing to that atmosphere. If you’re working on a business idea, creative project or remote role, we’re happy to share what we’ve learned through our own experience. Many guests find this a supportive place to think clearly.
