Description
Omah Sinau Gesang (OSG) is a Community Learning Center in a village level, we try to educate people to be proud of their village and preserve and nurture all the good practices in the village. We still can be creative, smart and inspired whereever we are.

OSG is also presenting 3,500m 2 edu-tourism facility where the visitors can get tourism experience and also something they learn that they can bring home. It's a mutual relationship.

In Javanese language Omah Sinau means Learning House. We provide creative space to villagers and surrounding community especially children and young people to develop themselves and gain new knowledge so they are able to build their own villages.

OSG is also built with the foundation of mutual assitance (gotong royong) and grow together with the helps of local volunteers and abroad.

You will live in the best environment in the middle of rice fields, green is the majority color. We can also teach you Bahasa Indonesia or Basa Jawa (Javanese language). We can also teach you the local dance. Mt. Bromo and Mt. Semeru are right in front of us, every morning you will see Mt Semeru throwing its smoke to the sky , OSG local volunteers will always love to explore it with you. The mighty Tumpaksewu falls and some more beutiful waterfalls are everywhere here, there are many of them and some are still pristine. The bamboo forest, the beach and the savana are also a bike away. There is also the Hindu-Java temple, with its sacred spring, where all the biggest temples in Bali goes every year and get the holy water from the spring here. All of those hidden gems and unbeaten tracks are within 30minutes away from OSG.

Organic fruits and vegetables are always available for you.

Omah Sinau Gesang (OSG) is in Lumajang (3 hours away from Surabaya, the capital city of East Java province), right on the foot of the highest and active volcano in Java island, the mighty Mt. Semeru. We have organic farm that we want to turn it into permaculture farming concept, this is something you can help us; and we want to build some eco buildings like composting bins, compost toilet, kitchen and the stove, library etc. We have lots of natural resources from bamboo, coconut tusks, mud, straw, sand, stones etc.

We expect workawayer to help us doing farming, build eco buildings and help the community English or general knowledge about your culture, food and customs. We want to have a mutual sharing experiences. We also need someone who can help us with maintaining our website and social medias.

Hébergement
You will sleep in OSG's center, right in the farm. Wifi is available. If you have tent, you can also stay in a camping set up. We can also arrange a homestay with a local host, but for this, we need to arrange and discuss prior. We will provide also food, 3 meals a day (breakfast, lunch and dinner) but please be mindful, all the foods are local healthy foods (mostly are plant based food), we can't provide you western food; but kitchen is available for you to cook your own food. the local market is also 5 minutes walk.

We require you to work 4 hours/day - 5 days/week. We can also provide you sponsorship letter if you want to stay longer and require longer visa, prior discussion needed. We have motorbikes and bikes you can borrow to go around.
