    Description

This is a Portuguese family farm, the name rooted from the warriors named Ana in our family. We are at the 4th generation of Ana’s and we want to open and share our beloved land in Aveiro (Portugal) with like-minded people that want to go back to the roots.

There are two conjoined rustic manor villas, located in Arrancada do Vouga, about 20 kilometres from the beautiful city of Aveiro. The venue is located in a quiet village with plenty of vineyards and farmland around, a few restaurants, grocery shops and a bakery just around the corner.

We're a not-for-profit rural farm. We don’t sell produce at the farm. We have another business next door that offers rural accommodation, but we have our own dedicated employees working there who are paid.

We offer free accommodation and food in exchange for their help on the farm and sometimes support in the cooking with Ana, or helping with our kids and animals.

Hope you can come and be part of our family.

    Cheers,

Here you will learn how to eat well, learn to grow, harvest, prepare and cook healthy food, breath fresh air, have carefree fun, disconnect from the frenetic world and find inner peace in a natural environment.

You can learn how to make your own food from scratch (from cheese, wine to mushroom cultivations, depending on the season), you will learn how to live in balance with nature and how to be self-sufficient.

Most of the people that work at the farm are Portuguese so you will definitely learn more about the language, traditions and countryside lifestyle. We have bikes and skateboards on site that we can borrow you so you can explore the surroundings. Also Alycah, a teen that lives here, gives Portuguese class, for not much cash.

  • Aide

    Aide

We need extra hands to help with the daily tasks of the farm (gardening, farming, animal care, housekeeping, and buildings maintenance). Most of the tasks are related to the daily farm routines, and, of course, we appreciate help in preparing shared meals and cleaning common areas (housekeeping just for the areas you are using and clean as you go). Amazing if in case the volunteer has any specific skill to share, it would be a advantage point on our selection.

Depending on availability, you can get a private room or a shared mixed dorm. We have no issues in receiving couples or friends :)

Seasonal fruits, vegetables and food are provided so you can cook your own meals with the other volunteers.

We are located about 20 kilometres from the beautiful city of Aveiro, is a city set on the west coast of Portugal (great beaches), an hour south of Porto (that you can easily visit as well by the train). It is known for being the “Portuguese Venice” because of its canals that are navigated using the beautifully painted gondola-style boats called barcos moliceiros — a traditional boat used for collecting seaweed from the lagoon.
