  Description

  We are a Christian husband and wife team — Fiona (60s) and Scott (50s) — living on a beautiful 7-acre property in Bemboka, in the NSW Sapphire Coast hinterland, one hour from the coast and 90 minutes from the Snowy Mountains ski fields.
  Our property includes a rundown but heritage-listed building, 3 cottages and 4 other buildings, with river frontage and adjoining a Landcare conservation area. We were slowly renovating, and there is always something interesting happening.
  
  We have hosted Workawayers since 2017 and genuinely love it — the cultural exchange, the shared meals, learning about places we haven't visited yet, and seeing our valley through fresh eyes. Our five-star reviews reflect real relationships, not just transactions, and we have kept in touch with some of our guests for several years now.
  
  We are ideally looking for a couple aged 30+ for a stay of 2-3 weeks. You will have your own private self-contained cottage with outlook over the hills — genuinely independent living with your own space and privacy.

  CULTURAL EXCHANGE AND LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES
  We live in one of Australia's true hidden gems — the Sapphire Coast hinterland. From Bemboka you can reach stunning beaches, whale watching (late winter-spring), seals, stingrays and year-round snorkelling within an hour. The Snowy Mountains are 90 minutes away.
  Fiona is a cruise ship shore excursion tour guide and is happy to share her knowledge of the region on days she's not working. We love taking visitors to local beauty spots and seeing them through new eyes.
  
  We want to pay forward the hospitality we've been shown in our own travels. Fiona loves cooking and sharing recipes — the kitchen is genuinely her happy place — and we'd love to learn about your food culture and try cooking together.
  Wildlife on and around our property includes kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, bandicoots, possums, antechinus, echidnas and platypus — wild, unscheduled, and completely free of charge. We currently have a resident ceiling possum and visiting wombats who spend times under the cottages occasionally.
  
  Workawayers pay their own admission to attractions and meals when out.

  WHALE WATCHING SEASON!!! HELP NEEDED — SPRING 2026
  We own a 7-acre property with 3 cottages and 4 other buildings and there is genuinely satisfying work to be done.
  Fiona has heart and spinal health limitations that make housework difficult, so light household help is our current priority, with a paid full spring clean happening shortly.
  
  We are looking for people who genuinely enjoy rolling their sleeves up and making a real difference with the little things.
  
  Immediate priority - we are getting a paid deep house clean, but need help with whatever the paid clean doesn't get to - maybe some cobwebbing from time to time, or the areas a robot vacuum cannot reach, or leaning to wipe the kitchen splash back after dinner. It is these little things that will make an enormous difference to our daily lives.

  Ongoing household:
  Floors that the robot vacuum doesn't get, bathroom wipedown, and cat care (Miss Tuppence is long-haired, so her bowls, tray and general grooming need attention if Fiona's back is too bad).

  Garden and grounds:
  Weeding (we have minimal chemical use, so some hand-pulling of woody weeds), spreading of mulch of autumn leaves to inhibit weed growth.
  
  Flexible scheduling — 3 focused days leaving the rest of the week free works well, or a couple of hours each morning plus time with Scott on weekends.
  
  We are in postcode 2550, which qualifies for 88-day regional extensions for plant and animal cultivation, aquaculture and construction work — but we cannot sign off on 88-day requirements ourselves as we don'thave agricultural activities, and hospitality work in this area is not 88-day eligible.

  Hébergement

  Accommodation for Tourists and WHMs is in a separate 3 bedroom holiday cottage on the property. Wood fire, plus heaters and electric blankets to be cosy in winter. Fans for summer. Wifi access.
  
  We would share several meals together, mostly lunches, plus 3-4 dinners each week, and Sunday Brunch, but you also have some "you" time and we provide food for you to cook for yourselves when we aren't eating together.

  Families would be expected to contribute in kind towards additional food costs for children.

  We are just 50km (35 minute drive) to stunning beaches and whale watching in season (they start heading north in May-June, and are stunningly good heading south from September to November), and we are 145km (2 hours) to the snow in season, although sometimes you can build a snowman as close as 30km away.
  There are also a large number of indoor attractions including Eden Killer whale museum, Bega Cheese Heritage Museum and Craft Co-op, Bega Museum, Merimbula Aquarium, Pambula Museum, and Potoroo Palace native wildlife sanctuary and Panboola Wetlands area to visit. Coastal and mountain National Parks nearby including Beowa National Park (NP), Bournda NP, South Eastern Forests NP, Kosciuszko NP, Mimosa Rocks NP, and Wadbilliga NP.
  We are on a highway that has a daily rail bus service to Canberra, which is 200km, with all the attractions of Australia's capital city. The Rail bus goes from Canberra to Eden, through Cooma, Bemboka and Bega. It also has connections to the Melbourne to Batemans Bay Rail Bus route. There are also buses from Sydney down the coast to Bega, which is 32km away. The nearest airport is Merimbula, which is 50km away.
  We have tank water pumped straight from the crystal clear river, and bottled water available on request for drinking and cooking.
  We don't have children, but do have 1 indoor pedigree Ragdoll cat.
  We are an easy 2km walk from the nearest bakery, post office and hotel. The use of bicycles may be arranged.
  The village population is about 400 people.
  
  
  International Licenses ARE required for driving privileges within NSW at all times. Your home country license is not necessarily sufficient if not in English and will need an English Translation. Translation and/or International Drivers Licence should be arranged prior to travel. We are not able, for insurance reasons, to allow anyone under the age of 25 to drive our vehicles.
  
  We have a STRICT no illicit drugs or plants policy.
  
  We are unable to sponsor people who do not have visas in place already and we only firmly book visitors in once they are in Australia, although we happily answer questions before you get here.
