Family in Montreal seeking a warm, creative helper (childcare + family life)

We’re a family of five living in Montreal, with three lovely children aged 5, 4 and a newborn. We’re looking for a caring, responsible, cheerful person with good initiative to join our family for a few weeks or months and help with our two older children.
What we’re looking for
We hope to welcome someone who genuinely enjoys spending time with children—playing, doing creative activities (reading stories, singing songs, doing crafts), helping with daily routines, and lending a hand around the house when needed.
Both older children attend school and daycare during the day, so you’ll have plenty of free time to explore Montreal. Most of the help we need is in the mornings and again in the late afternoon or early evening.
Typical tasks
Helping get the kids ready in the morning or for bedtime
Picking them up from school or daycare (a short walk from home — not required every day)
Playing with them after school
Household help (tidying, occasional cooking, small errands)
Tidying the kitchen and dining room after breakfast and dinner
Vacuuming and mopping floors once a week
Cleaning the bathrooms once a week
Occasional babysitting so the parents can rest or go out
Hours
Approximately 15–20 hours per week, with a flexible schedule.

About us
We live in a family-friendly neighborhood close to parks, cafés and public transport. We speak both English and French at home and love exchanging stories, meals and cultural experiences. We would also be delighted to welcome someone who speaks another language and would enjoy sharing it with us.

Nous sommes une famille de cinq vivant à Montréal, avec trois adorables enfants de 5 ans, 4 ans et un nouveau-né. Nous recherchons une personne bienveillante, responsable, souriante et ayant un bon sens de l’initiative pour nous rejoindre pendant quelques semaines ou quelques mois et nous aider avec les deux plus grands.
Ce que nous recherchons
Nous aimerions accueillir quelqu’un qui aime vraiment passer du temps avec les enfants — jouer, faire des activités créatives (lire des histoires, chanter des chansons, bricoler), aider dans les routines quotidiennes et donner un coup de main à la maison lorsque nécessaire.
Les deux plus grands vont à l’école et à la garderie pendant la journée, donc tu auras beaucoup de temps libre pour explorer Montréal. La plupart de l’aide dont nous avons besoin est le matin, puis en fin d’après-midi ou en soirée.
Tâches typiques
Aider à préparer les enfants le matin ou pour le coucher
Aller les chercher à l’école ou à la garderie (à quelques minutes à pied — pas nécessaire tous les jours)
Jouer avec eux après l’école
Aide à la maison (ranger, cuisiner à l’occasion, petites courses)
Ranger la cuisine et la salle à manger après le petit-déjeuner et le dîner
Passer l’aspirateur et laver les planchers une fois par semaine
Nettoyer les salles de bain une fois par semaine
Garder les enfants à l’occasion pour permettre aux parents de se reposer ou de sortir
Horaire
Environ 15 à 20 heures par semaine, avec un horaire flexible.

Nous vivons dans un quartier familial, près de parcs, de cafés et des transports en commun. Nous parlons anglais et français à la maison et aimons partager des histoires, des repas et des expériences culturelles. Nous serions également ravis d’accueillir quelqu’un qui parle une autre langue et souhaite la partager avec nous.
Si tu aimes les enfants, que tu es gentil·le, patient·e, et que tu souhaites découvrir la vie de famille à Montréal tout en ayant beaucoup de temps pour explorer la ville, nous serions très heureux d’avoir de tes nouvelles !

We love welcoming people from around the world into our home and learning from each other’s cultures, languages, and experiences. Our family is bilingual — we speak both English and French — and are happy to help you practice either language in daily conversation. We also would love to learn your language, and will encourage you to speak your native language to our children. We also love to share recipes, music, and stories from life in Montreal, Australia and the Arctic (where we’ve also lived).
As part of our family life, you’ll be invited to join us for meals, outings, and simple day-to-day moments — from playing with the kids to enjoying coffee together in the morning. We believe these small shared moments are what make cultural exchange so special.
You’ll gain an authentic experience of family life in Quebec. We’ll also encourage you to share your own customs, language, and interests with the children — they love learning songs and stories from other places!
We see hosting as a two-way exchange: while you offer your time and kindness, we offer warmth, inclusion, and a place where you can feel at home. We hope to learn from your perspective and experiences, and to build a connection that lasts beyond your stay.

We appreciate someone who’s proactive, enjoys spending time with children, and can gently lend a hand around the house when needed. Flexibility and a good sense of humor go a long way here — life with young kids is lively and full of surprises!

Our home is well suited to digital nomads who want to balance remote work with a relaxed, family-oriented environment. We have reliable high-speed Wi-Fi and several quiet spots where you can comfortably work during the day. Since the children are at school and daycare on weekdays, the house is generally calm and quiet during work hours. Most of our help is needed in the early mornings and late afternoons/evenings, leaving your weekdays largely free for your own projects or remote work. We understand the need for structure and focus, so we’ll do our best to coordinate a schedule that works well for everyone.
