Many people tell me that its a pipe dream to run a sustainable and chemical-free durian farm. This will be my big challenge for the year 2019 - managing a 200 acre durian farm in a sustainable and natural manner
I am currently looking for skilled and long-term (up to 3 months) volunteers who can help me materialize my dreams whilst gaining hands-on experience in sustainable natural farming practices.
We currently have 100+ durian trees that are over a year old and have started fruiting. We are also integrating with many other fruit trees such as rambutan, durians, mangosteen, jackfruit, pomelo, passionfruit, calamansi, herbs and vegetatation. We are surrounded by 1000 acres of palm trees and our neighbors have goats, cows, water buffaloes that are free-ranging and in the vicinity there are many wild birds and cranes. The animals in our farm are watch dogs, geese, ducks, chickens, rabbits, fish and stingless bees. We want to develop natural feed for these animals and build proper enclosures that allow them to be both free ranging and safe from predators.
We have some a 10 room container rooms with attached bathrooms that we would like to develop into a potential a farm-stay and a farm-to-table area. If you are artistic and are keen to paint a mural or refurbish the container houses artistically, you are welcomed. We are situated just behind Perak Matrikulasi Kolej ( Perak Matriculation College) and we have very good mobile speed and phone coverage for Digi - please obtain this simcard before coming into the farm.
We have a vision to be a fully self-sustainable farm and an education hub on natural farming methods using EM1. Currently, we have an affiliation with a local University (University Putra Malaysia) and hosted international internship programs from France and Finland on agriculture, environmental, engineering and natural construction.
