Description
We are a family of two humans and six pets, as well as a cockerel and his hens. Our furry friends are: Poppy the pony, Archie & Dolly the Terrier siblings, Ollie the gentle giant lab mix and Teddy and Grace our cats.
We also own a huge polytunnel where we grow most of our vegetables and some fruit. (edit: our polytunnel was destroyed by the last storm, we are currently rebuilding it again )
We live about 8 km away from our nearest town Carrigallen, that is why we ask that you bring your own transport, as buses (as well as taxis) are very unreliable in this neck of the woods, and you literally need a car for everything.Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre

If you decide to help us out, you could learn a lot about horticulture and building work. Neil is a bricklayer by trade and both of us have studied some horticulture.
I would advice people to come with their own transport, otherwise you will literally be stuck on the property.Aide
We need help with our polytunnel and veg and fruit gardens, which would include planting, watering, weeding, harvesting and general maintenance in and around the polytunnel and or yard. You dont need to have knowledge in horticulture, we will gladly pass on our knowledge!
We are planning on restoring an old cottage on our land and as Neil is already a bricklayer, we are not looking for specific talents that people could bring but just strength and a willingness to help would be greatly appreciated!Langues parlées

Its really important that you have your own transport as bigger towns are at least 8 km away. We do have buses and trains that go to Dublin and Galway as well as smaller towns and villages near by, but buses from were we live are VERY unreliable.
There are lots of outdoor things to do like hiking, climbing, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, horse riding, but we also have a great night life in Carrick on Shannon which is quite famous for its hen and stag does.
We only have one main rule in our home: Love one another!
We are straight forward and honest and we would expect our volunteers to be the same in that respect. We love feedback!Informations complémentaires

We have a big secure yard before the house where you can park your campervan.

We also accept pets, as long as they are cat and dog friendly. But dogs can not be let free on the property unless we know for sure that the dog listens to you and does not attack any hens, sheep, cows, lambs etc. We are very sorry, but due to a very bad experience , we are unable to take in pitbulls or pitbull cross, as beautiful and loving as they are, Maja is absolutely terrified and would live in constant fear lol
