  Acacías, a typical Colombian town, is a hidden gem for outsiders. Experience its warm climate, meandering rivers, and exotic nature. Our city, often a retreat for Colombian’s (a lot of them from Bogota) and it welcomes you to enjoy clean air, mountain hikes, and family time by the river. Engage in outdoor activities and explore the beauty our city offers. On the weekends you can feel free to travel to other cities surrounding Acacias that offer other spectacular nightlife & excursions. Embrace the opportunity to share moments with locals, savor diverse cuisine, and discover a green paradise with majestic rivers and landscapes. The city center has a ton of bustling little stores where you can eat, shop, or just walk around to take in the life of the city. Outside the city are more restaurants and tiendas. If you travel far enough you will reach the fincas (small farms in the rural outskirts of the town). On the weekend Volunteers can go to the Malecon which is about a 10 minute walk from the institute. This is the area of town where you can find the discotecas & pool halls where salsa & reggaeton music is played until 4am. Otherwise if you want a break from the small town culture, you can take a 45 minute bus ride to Villavicencio where the nightlife culture is much more celebrated. Not a lot of people here speak English. Most people here rarely interact with English speakers so it will be a delight to introduce more native speakers to our small community to expose them to a new culture but to help you practice your Spanish!
  
  Acacías, un pueblo típico colombiano, es una joya escondida para los forasteros. Experimente su clima cálido, ríos serpenteantes y naturaleza exótica. Nuestra ciudad, a menudo un refugio para los colombianos (muchos de ellos bogotanos) y le da la bienvenida para disfrutar del aire limpio, caminatas por la montaña y tiempo en familia junto al río. Participe en actividades al aire libre y explore la belleza que ofrece nuestra ciudad. Los fines de semana puedes viajar a otras ciudades cercanas a Acacias que ofrecen otras excursiones y vida nocturna espectaculares. Aprovecha la oportunidad de compartir momentos con los lugareños, saborear una gastronomía diversa y descubrir un paraíso verde con majestuosos ríos y paisajes. El centro de la ciudad tiene un montón de pequeñas tiendas animadas donde puedes comer, comprar o simplemente caminar para disfrutar de la vida de la ciudad. Fuera de la ciudad hay más restaurantes y tiendas. Si viajas lo suficiente llegarás a las fincas (pequeñas granjas en las afueras rurales del pueblo). Los fines de semana los voluntarios pueden ir al Malecón, que está a unos 10 minutos caminando desde el instituto. Esta es la zona de la ciudad donde puedes encontrar discotecas y salones de billar donde se toca música salsa y reggaetón hasta las 4 a.m. De lo contrario, si desea un descanso de la cultura de la pequeña ciudad, puede tomar un viaje en autobús de 45 minutos hasta Villavicencio, donde la vida nocturna es mucho más celebrada. No mucha gente aquí habla inglés. La mayoría de las personas aquí rara vez interactúan con angloparlantes, por lo que será un placer presentar más hablantes nativos a nuestra pequeña comunidad para exponerlos a una nueva cultura, ¡y también para ayudarte a practicar tu español!

  Aide

  We're seeking open-minded volunteers with a good level of English, effective communication skills, and a basic understanding of Spanish. While teaching experience is a plus, we value a willingness to learn and teach. Dive into a flexible schedule, spending four and a half hours a day in the classroom. Classes start bright and early at 8am and the last classes end by 8pm. Each class is 1 and a half hours long. Your schedule will depend on the needs of the classroom. Your role is pivotal in shaping English language skills and organizing activities fostering language use.
  
  You don't need to be a teacher however experience working with people, teaching, and having strong social skills will definitely help! We will offer you an introduction with another teacher or volunteer to give you tips and information on how to teach English. Otherwise, we encourage people to come to us with new ideas, games, and methods they find helpful in order to make learning English fun and exciting! Most of our students are school aged though there are some adults, so being relatable and engaging wiull go a long way in the classroom. Friendly and outgoing travelers who speak fluent English are the only qualities that are necessary to thrive at our Institute!
  
  Buscamos voluntarios de mente abierta con un buen nivel de inglés, habilidades de comunicación efectiva y un conocimiento básico del español. Si bien la experiencia docente es una ventaja, valoramos la voluntad de aprender y enseñar. Sumérgete en un horario flexible y pasa cuatro horas y media al día en el aula. Las clases comienzan temprano a las 8 a. m. y las últimas clases terminan a las 8 p. m. Cada clase tiene una duración de 1 hora y media. Su horario dependerá de las necesidades del aula. Su papel es fundamental a la hora de moldear las habilidades del idioma inglés y organizar actividades que fomenten el uso del idioma.
  
  No es necesario ser profesor; sin embargo, tener experiencia trabajando con personas, enseñando y teniendo fuertes habilidades sociales definitivamente te ayudará. Te ofreceremos una introducción con otro profesor o voluntario para darte consejos e información sobre cómo enseñar inglés. De lo contrario, alentamos a las personas a que vengan a nosotros con nuevas ideas, juegos y métodos que les resulten útiles para que aprender inglés sea divertido y emocionante. La mayoría de nuestros estudiantes están en edad escolar, aunque hay algunos adultos, por lo que ser identificable y atractivo será de gran ayuda en el aula. ¡Los viajeros amigables y extrovertidos que hablan inglés con fluidez son las únicas cualidades necesarias para prosperar en nuestro Instituto!

  Hébergement

  Nestled in the heart of Acacias, you'll stay on the top floor of the building in which our Primary institute is located! That means most days you’ll only need to walk downstairs to reach your classes. Our second building is located in the city center and is about a 10 min walk from the first institute. We do not provide meals but we do pay out a per diem at the rate of 35.000 pesos per person per weekday worked.(This number may increase depending on the average prices of meals in the city) Money will be given to you upon arrival and at the end of the day after each shift worked. Your experience includes free accommodation, cultural immersion, and the chance to practice your Spanish. If you would like, once a month we are willing to pay for you to have access to a pool nearby & to pay for you to enter the most beautiful nature reserve in the city where you will find waterfalls, trails, and magnificent views located within the mountains.

  ¡Ubicado en el corazón de Acacias, te alojarás en el último piso del edificio en el que se encuentra nuestro instituto de Primaria! Eso significa que la mayoría de los días solo tendrás que bajar las escaleras para llegar a tus clases. Nuestro segundo edificio está ubicado en el centro de la ciudad y está a unos 10 minutos a pie del primer instituto. No proporcionamos comidas pero sí pagamos viáticos a razón de 35.000 pesos por persona por día laborable. (Este número puede aumentar dependiendo de los precios promedio de las comidas en la ciudad) Se le entregará el dinero a su llegada y al final del día después de cada turno trabajado. Tu experiencia incluye alojamiento gratuito, inmersión cultural y la oportunidad de practicar tu español. Si lo desea, una vez al mes estamos dispuestos a pagarle para que tenga acceso a una piscina cercana y para que ingrese a la reserva natural más hermosa de la ciudad, donde encontrará cascadas, senderos y magníficas vistas ubicadas dentro. las montañas.
