Description
Workaway availability from Monday 12th May - Saturday 7th June 2025 & late September - early October 2025
We have been hosting now for a few years with many wonderful groups of helpers from different cultures and the mix proved to be really successful, with a great upbeat atmosphere and we hope to repeat that again for this year. If you have bad knees- warning we are on a hill! unfortunately, a Workaway left due to this 😞
We have listened and learnt a lot from our volunteers that will help us to continually improve our level of hosting. Your honesty is hugely appreciated with how you are happy in helping out 👍
Since 2018 we have been renovating our family home, an old mill built in 1734, keeping all of the original artefacts and history that comes with such a beautiful property and it is a real labour of love.
We love for friends and family to enjoy with us the unique ambience & tranquillity of this amazing location and feel we have a welcome base now to also extend this to Workaways from different cultures to help us continuously improve other areas of the mill and it's beautiful surroundings; sharing stories and experiences and helping us with jobs to improve the mill.
We are a family of 4 with a combination of nationalities: Italian, Dutch & Irish. English speakers with 2 sons: 21yrs & 11yrs and Phoebe, our very friendly Golden Doodle Dog.
Sadly, our beloved Dorothy - the larger dog in some of our photos passed away, but a very big part of our life at Ponte Della Valle, so still present.
We are easy going and happy to impart our professional knowledge from being a Builder & Professional Chef, so meals are always good! 😉 We are looking forward to hosting easy going, trust-worthy & upbeat travellers. We are in a small mountain environment which hosts numerous carnivals and fiestas etc which the whole community participate in. There is a strong slow food culture with countless of options to sample stunning local produce at various events.
Property Description:
Beautiful ancient mill in woodland on the banks of the Sesia River, Italian Alps, Piemonte
Of the 7 floors, 4 floors provide comfortable accommodation, with hot running water, full kitchen & bathrooms. Helpers sleeping accommodation is on a separate floor to ours; however, we share the main large lounge with TV, sofas, open-planned kitchen and dining area, where we eat together, over many hilarious tales and stories from lots of different cultures, truly adding to the essence of many cultural exchanges from all around the world. Please remember it is still a renovation project and lots more to do.
The property is nestled right up to the river, with a stream at the side, kayaking river at the bottom and a large natural private swimming lake only accessed from our garden, great for an afternoon dip!
