James was a lovely man, I felt very comfortable during my whole stay in Ireland. I stayed for almost one month and I had the opportunity to learn more about ecological farming and gardening. I had the incredible experience to work in an oyster farm, and also to prepare homemade jam with blackberries taken from the farm, to take care of the animals

It has been an experience that I will never forget. Thank you so much for your kindness and for all that you have done for me James.

I had a wonderful time at James's beautiful house. He is very welcoming and kind. He happily answers any questions you have and shares all is knowledge about the area. I stayed with Seamus for a bit longer than 2 weeks, and can absolutely recommend this Workaway.
I felt welcome and comfortable from day one.
During my stay Seamus was just about finishing a roof, so there wasn’t much thatching work for me. Which was no problem at all we cut reed bundles to finish the roof and we did a bit of gardening work. Most
… read more of the time we spent with Oyster-Farming which was completely new for me and I’m very happy about that experience.
Seamus is a kind person and he will show you many places in and around Kinvara, and he always has some history and stories about those places. It feels like he knows every stone in this area 😊.
If you are interested in Farm work, and Irish history and Stories which you can’t find in books, then I would recommend this Workaway.Vous pouvez seulement contacter les workawayers avec une adhésion active.

I stayed with Seamus for two months.
This was my second workaway experience and I was very happy, that I had this one.
After the first experience I was not sure what to expect in Kinvara.
But as soon as I arrived I felt welcomed and very comfortable.
I hoped that I could get to know a bit of the Irish culture and I wanted to work and help.
Seamus
… read more made all of that happen.
I learnd a lot about the culture and the history of Ireland, I learned how to thatch, which is more than anything I could have wished for.
I would definetly recommend Seamus as a host and I will definetly come back.

I spent three weeks with Seamus.. It was my first experience with workaway, and I can say that I could not find better.
Seamus is a fantastic person, he is faithful to what he writes on the site. He is a good cook and will keep you company with his stories or watching an Irish TV series. He welcomed me into his house and made me feel
… read more comfortable.
I spent a lot of time with his puppy!
I hadn't a car, so I wasn’t very independent, but Seamus kindly took me to visit different places.
In case you need time for yourself, he will definitely leave it to you.
As for work, if you are a city person like me, prepare yourself for new experiences, but I say this in a positive way, you will do things you would not expect to do.
As for wi-fi, it is limited, but in the sense that you switch it on only when you need it, but you can use it.
The only thing I could recommend is to bring a hair dryer and have something to do on rainy days when you can’t work.

Katharina was absolutely Excellent. She had an interest in every thing no matter how big or how small.
She not alone had a great work ethic but expressed a wonderful interest in our Culture and Heritage.
It was a pity her time here was so short.
Katharina, you are welcome back anytime.Your friend Seamus.

I had the luck of staying with Seamus near Kinvara for roughly two weeks during February 2023 and in all honesty, especially in retrospect, couldn't have wished for more from a Workaway experience!
Due to an abrupt cancellation from my previous host because of what I assume are unfortunate family matters, I was left stranded in Galway City and,
… read more with my second hosting still 14 days away, began searching for a timely alternative.
When I contacted Seamus, he immediately offered me a phone call the following day and we managed to settle things right then and there. After a short bus ride I was picked up from a nearby village and introduced to some lovely local sights, stories and legends. He was an absolute delight to listen to and always had some interesting pieces of history and personal advice in store!
The room I got to spend my nights in was unexpectedly spacious, charming and full of personality, although I very much consider that applicable for the whole house. Though there wasn't much in terms of Wifi, I didn't really see a need for that since I spent most of my off-time happily exploring the local area, reading some of the books I was kindly offered and being introduced to various Irish Tv-shows while the fireplace crackled away.
Between a tasty breakfast and a cheesy lunch, we fed and took care of the cows, refilled the firewood stash in the house and, most importantly, cut and stored away dozens of bundles of reed in preparation for the coming season. Since I personally appreciate being taught different skills that others may deem a bit more niche, I had as good of a time as you can get, though it was closely rivaled by Seamus teaching me the basics of how to start and drive a car or even a tractor!
Overall, I had an amazing time in Kinvara that I value highly.
Seamus was a lovely host and very much someone that finalized my decision to return to Ireland again at a later date! :)

Although I stayed unfortunately just for a few days at that beautiful place, I would recommend it to others, especially if you are interested in history about Ireland! Seamus is a really kind and open minded host, who let you experience his varied everyday life, e.g. feeding the cows, including showing you interesting places around the area. He had

Just one thing to know in advance- he has just limited WiFi, but staying in the living room in front of his fireplace in the evenings is anyway a better experience than watching Netflix in the evenings I would say ;)Willing hands welcome in West Cork, Ireland
