Description
We are Shane and Mati Glover, a husband and wife living in the small town of Lumby, BC, Canada. Shane is 38 and works as a firefighter, and Mati is 24 and a real estate agent with RE/MAX. We both coach hockey together which keeps us busy and connected to our community.
Our family is made up of our baby girl who is 7 months old, four labradors each a different colour, and our calico cat. Life in our home is full of energy and love, with a little bit of chaos mixed in. We live on half an acre surrounded by the beautiful Okanagan which gives us so many chances to enjoy the outdoors.
We both come from large families and visit them often in the Vancouver area. We are also fortunate to spend time at family vacation homes, one in Blaine in the United States and another at Hatzic Lake in Mission, BC.
We are an active family who loves to fish, hunt, hike, go ATVing, ski and snowboard. At home we enjoy cooking, baking, and playing board games together. If it is something we have not tried before we are always open to giving it a go!

We love welcoming people into our home and making them feel like part of the family. Social time is important to us and we often spend evenings cooking together, playing board games, or sitting outside around a fire. In the winter you’ll find us at the rink or on the ski hill, and in the summer we love fishing, hiking, and exploring the outdoors. There are always opportunities to join us in these activities if you’d like to experience local life and the community here in Lumby.
We are happy to share the skills and knowledge that are a part of our daily lives. From gardening, canning, and cooking to learning about hockey, outdoor activities, and even real estate or firefighting, there are lots of chances to pick up something new. Mati also loves to craft and often spends her free time scrapbooking, woodworking, and trying out new creative projects. If you are someone who enjoys making things with your hands there will be plenty of fun to share.
At the same time, we would love to learn from you. Whether it’s a favorite recipe from your home country, a story about where you grew up, or a new way of doing things, we look forward to exchanging experiences and cultures. By hosting Workawayers we hope to build meaningful connections, share laughter and learning, and create memories that last long after your stay.

Aide
We are looking for someone who can lend a hand around the home and join in with the things we do day to day. Gardening is a big part of our life and there is always something to plant, weed, or harvest depending on the season. We also do a lot of canning, cooking, baking, and freezing food, so if you enjoy being in the kitchen this will be a fun and rewarding part of your stay.
Some days we may ask for help watching our baby girl while we are at the ice rink coaching hockey together. It is a relaxed and fun atmosphere and you will get to experience a Canadian sport while helping us out.
We love sharing what we know and learning from others as well, so whether it’s cooking, gardening, or simply day to day life, we would love to learn from you as well!

We have a cozy guest bedroom that will be just for you, giving you your own space to relax and feel at home. When it comes to food, our kitchen is always open and we love to share meals. We eat a wide variety of food, have no allergies, and are happy to provide whatever you’d like so that you feel comfortable and well taken care of during your stay.
