Hello!

My name is Candela and we are based in Madrid, Spain.

We organize events and parties for Spanish children and among other things, we also have our main annual events which are our summer camps. Our summer camps are fully organized by us and run from the last week of June all through July of every year. It is a great time for English native speakers to make some extra pocket money while also going on adventures and excursions with our campers. Our overnight camps are located in the Castilla y León region, completely surrounded by nature, on a site that sports a decently sized swimming pool; a basketball and paddle court, soccer, volleyball, baseball and rugby fields, with areas for shooting, archery, and climbing just to name a few.

These activities are offered to the children and we are interested in having counselors that have any skills (ranging from art to cooking, to nature and sports) that could impart these activities in English. You do not need to be an expert (we provide training days before camp starts) you just genuinely have to love being around children (aged 6 - 13) and have a passion for camping with an even greater passion for working in a team in a foreign setting.

This position is good for you if:

- You speak English FLUENTLY
- Are between the ages of 18 - 28
- Have previous experience working with kids (bonus points if this experience was gained in a summer camp setting)
- Are looking for ways to fund your trips around Spain in Summer

You will benefit by:

Aide
You will be expected to work in a team with other counselors as well as your supervising coordinators in order to make sure that the children at camp have a really good time during their stay with us. Your days will consist of teaching activities throughout the day, going on excursions and adventures (paid and organized by us) with the children, attending team-building meetings in order to get briefed on the events of the following day and take care of the children assigned to you and your tent (5 - 8 children max), you will be provided with a junior counselor to help you and an assistant counselor to assist where your junior can not.

Hébergement
You will be sleeping in a tent (not the small kind that you can pitch by yourself), these tents are erected by our ground employees at the start of camp and are structures typically big enough to house double beds, drawers and hangers, enough to accommodate at least 6 people.

While we try to experience nature in its entirety, we do provide some sort of modern amenities such as electric lighting and WIFI in the main building, the tents all have lanterns built into them and clean bedding and linen will be provided.

The showers are all located in the main building and of course, separated by gender. As a counselor, your shower and grooming times are allowed only in your free time: in the morning before the children wake up, during your allocated free time throughout the day and in the evening after the children are put to bed.

You eat with the children-- whenever food is provided for them, you will almost always be provided with a double portion (because it can become a bit demanding, especially in terms of maintaining your energy level throughout the day), you are more than welcome to approach the cooks or coordinators if you feel you would like more/have some sort of specific dietary need (we provide a form before camp where you can specify this).

Since our camp is located some ways away from any town/city, during your free time while at camp you are limited to exploring the campsite and/taking time to relax in our meeting rooms. You may use our facilities as you need but be aware that choosing to roam the grounds while children are out might result in them wanting to interact with you and as a result, take away from your free time.

We have bilingual, Spanish born counselors as well, so there are always many opportunities to make friends that can show you around once you are back in the main city for your extended 1 to 2-day break. During this break, we will leave you in Madrid where you should organize your own sleeping arrangements etc and where you can explore the city as you wish. Public transport is normally quite cheap if you buy a metro pass and food and drinks are very affordable around the city too.
However, you are always welcome to stay on the campsite to save money on lodging/food but of course, because of its rural location, you will be limited on where to go and on what to do (this is completely up to you).

Bear in mind that once your break is over, you will be expected to be back at our meeting location in order to be transported back to camp on the day and time given.
