  Description

  We are a warm and welcoming family based in the rural West of Ireland, seeking a kind, caring and dependable au pair to join our home and become part of our daily life. This is a unique opportunity for a young woman who values kindness, empathy, warmth, trustworthiness and honesty above all else. These qualities matter deeply to us, as we are looking for someone who will provide a loving, secure and positive environment for my boy.
  
  Our ideal candidate is naturally gentle, patient and genuinely enjoys spending time with children. You should be responsible, organised and confident in your ability to support a child’s routine and activities. A full driving licence is essential, as school drop-offs and collections form part of the role.
  
  We would especially welcome someone who shares a Protestant/Anglican background, or who appreciates those values, as this aligns with our family life and traditions.

  Role & Schedule
  
  * Monday to Friday mornings: 7:45am – 8:40am (school drop-off for 8:30am)
  * Afternoons: School collection at 2:20pm, followed by activities and care until 4 or 5pm

  This role is very much about cultural exchange as well as childcare. We would love to welcome someone into our home who is open to sharing their own culture, traditions and experiences, while also becoming part of everyday Irish family life.
  
  You will experience a genuine slice of life in the rural West of Ireland—something quite different from a typical tourist visit. From the rhythms of the school week to cosy evenings at home, local community activities and time spent outdoors, you’ll be immersed in a slower, more traditional way of living.
  
  We are always happy to share Irish customs, food, and traditions, and to include you in family occasions where you feel comfortable. At the same time, we would really enjoy learning about your background, your culture, and the things that matter to you.
  
  With plenty of free time during the day, you’ll also have the opportunity to explore the surrounding counties, meet people, attend language classes if you wish, or simply enjoy the beautiful natural environment—whether that’s walking, cycling, or visiting nearby towns and coastal areas.
  
  Above all, we hope this will feel like a two-way experience—where you feel at home, included, and enriched, while also bringing something of yourself to our family.

  Aide

  Daytime Support (Flexible & Light)
  
  In addition to childcare, we would appreciate a small amount of help during the day while my boy is at school (typically late morning/early afternoon on a few days each week). This might include light household organisation, preparing simple meals, or helping keep things running smoothly while the house is quiet.

  Household & Child-Related Support
  
  We would value gentle, shared help with day-to-day tasks such as:
  
  * Preparing simple, healthy meals and snacks for my boy (and occasionally for the family)
  * Keeping play areas and my boy’s room tidy and organised
  * Helping with school preparation (bags, uniforms, activity gear)
  * Children’s laundry and light household tasks such as occasional sweeping or tidying
  
  These are intended to be light and manageable, forming part of the natural rhythm of the home rather than heavy cleaning.

  One or two evenings of babysitting per week may be requested (with notice), allowing us occasional time out.

  The role comes to approximately 28–30 hours per week, offering a nice balance of structured time and plenty of personal free time during the day.

  We live in a cosy three-bedroom cottage in the rural West of Ireland, surrounded by peaceful countryside and open skies. Our home has a relaxed, welcoming feel—full of character, with a rustic charm blended with a soft, bohemian style. Think natural textures, warm tones, and a lived-in, homely atmosphere where comfort comes first.
  
  Outside, the cottage is set within a generous garden space, with greenery all around. There’s plenty of room to enjoy the outdoors—whether that’s having a quiet cup of tea in the fresh air, reading in a sunny spot, or simply taking in the calm of the countryside. The setting is tranquil and private, with nature right on your doorstep.
  
  You will have your own comfortable bedroom, along with a small private sitting area—your own space to relax, unwind, and have some time to yourself. The bathroom and kitchen are shared, and the home is very much a lived-in, family space where we hope you’ll feel completely at ease.
  
  Overall, it’s a simple, peaceful and characterful home—ideal for someone who appreciates a slower pace of life, cosy surroundings, and the beauty of rural Ireland.
