Description
!We are fully booked up 2026!

Small farm & pottery centre located in the beautiful Achterhoek. We moved here in 2019. We have planted more than 10000 plants including an orchid with various fruit trees. We also have a wildflower garden with a sculpture garden as Carina is a professional ceramicist with her own ceramic studio.

Together with you, we would like to build sculptures create eco projects, and plant even more plants! We need help with chores, garden maintenance, new projects for the sculpture garden.

You will have your own private cottage 'Clay Cottage'. 1 bedroom max 2 people also your own Livingroom, kitchen, shower and toilet.

Carina’s South African & Fulco Dutch, but he has worked, lived and traveled all over the world. Alexandria is a very creative child with a wonderful imagination. We as a family also live to travel. We have 1 furry family member (dog): Minja, she loves attention! & 11 chickens.
Aide
Help in the garden and create new eco garden projects and ‘nature’ sculptures.
Weeding and maintenance of borders. Pruning.

We need you to take innovative and be able to help independently and with others.

We prefer 23+ that had some experience.

Hébergement
We offer a private cottage with a private room, your own toilet & shower & private living room & kitchen. You can join the family meals. Help prep meals or cook for yourself in your own kitchen. We will provide all food that is needed for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Accommodation: We expect you to keep it clean and neat.

We can provide a bicycle for transport. Closest train station is Ruurlo. You can visit various estates, farms, artists, wine farms, canoeing, swimming and many other activities here in the Achterhoek.
No smoking in the house. (Outside only).

My partner and I spent around 3 weeks with Carina, Fulco, their daughter (and Minja!).

We helped out with many tasks, including clay studio cleaning and preparation, gardening, planting and leaf clearing, and helped Fulco insulate and plasterboard a new office space.

As soon as I arrived in the Netherlands I felt like I was already one of the family. Carina, Fulco, and Alexandria are the absolute kindest and most beautiful people I have ever met. They were so welcoming, and they are so neat and hardworking! Also the garden is straight out of a fairly tale. This family is always up to something and I loved… read more being apart of that. Ally truly felt like my little sister from the beginning. When I arrived she gave me a hug and was quickly telling me all sorts of stories. She is outgoing and talkative like her mom, and I spent a lot of time with her as she loved to show me around. We walked in the woods, read, star gazed, watched TV, and so much more together. She also gave me many parting gifts that I will always cherish. When she is older I hope she will come visit me in the US and I will be able to show her around.

Carina is extremely creative and her work, and other artist work is all around, she is also very sociable and you will have the most fantastic conversations that could get pretty deep. I had a great time with her. A few times we stayed up late just chatting, we also love antiques! We got so excited about antiques the owners took us to the warehouse to give us a look. She also helped me create a pot! She also has such a radiant personality.

Fulco is the sweetest and calmest person you will ever meet. He is so patient and is a wonderful person to be around. If I need anything or had any questions he was always around to answer them or to help me out, and he is always happy to help. He also is a fantastic cook! He is terrified of heights and it was funny as I was on the roof painting and he just stood on the ladder worried that I would fall, Carina finally was like get down from there she’s not gonna fall it was very sweet though these two were constantly looking out for my safety.

In the beginning I was only suppose to stay a week, however my plans changed and honestly I was having such a great time with the family I didn’t really want to leave and ended up staying 2 weeks. Like I still traveled and explored the Netherlands, but spending a day at home was so much fun also, we always laughed and it felt so good. When I went to Amsterdam I felt myself getting excited to get back to the house and be with the family again. I have never truly actually ever felt like I had a “home”, but this family for a little while made me feel like I had one. I plan to visit them again one day. I look forward to it.
