  Description

  Come and share everyday life with our active family in Bavaria!
  
  We are Melanie (mum), Thomas (dad) and our daughters Evelina (born 2016) and Patrizia (born 2020).
  
  After travelling the world together for a year through Workaway, we are now happy to host travellers ourselves and continue the cultural and personal exchange we enjoyed so much during our journey.
  
  Our everyday life is usually quite busy. We both work, have children, animals, a house and garden and often several things going on at the same time. Therefore, we are especially looking for Workawayers who are mature, practical and independent and who genuinely enjoy contributing to everyday life.
  
  You don't need to be an expert in everything, but some everyday life experience, common sense and the ability to take responsibility for a task are very important to us. We appreciate people who can get things done independently rather than needing constant instructions or supervision.
  
  On a typical weekday, we take care of our animals in the early morning, bring the children to school, head off to work or return home to work on different projects. In the afternoon, we are often busy with the garden, appointments or spending time outdoors with the children.
  
  In the evening, we enjoy preparing fresh and healthy food and gathering around the table to share our experiences from the day. We like our Workawayers to become part of this everyday rhythm – not only as guests, but also as people who actively contribute to our shared daily life.
  
  Our home is in a quiet residential area in a small village close to Abensberg. We are lucky to live surrounded by beautiful countryside, cycling paths and many walking trails.
  
  Forest walks, bike rides and being close to animals are part of our everyday life, and you are always welcome to join us when it fits.
  
  Our region offers many highlights for nature and culture lovers: the Altmühltal Nature Park with its beautiful hiking trails, the Danube river landscapes and, of course, the historic city of Regensburg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

  Our family is open-minded, curious about other cultures and enjoys meeting people from different parts of the world. Cultural exchange is one of the reasons why we like Workaway and why we decided to become hosts after travelling with Workaway ourselves.
  
  Our daughters enjoy meeting people from other countries and speaking English with our guests. In return, we are happy to help you practise German or English during everyday conversations. We also speak some Spanish and French and always enjoy learning a few words from other languages.
  
  Staying with us gives you the opportunity to experience real everyday family life in Bavaria, including local traditions, food and seasonal celebrations. We are also interested in learning about your culture, traditions, music, food and experiences.
  
  We enjoy spending time outdoors, going for walks or bike rides and occasionally visiting interesting places in the region. Whenever it fits into our family schedule, you are very welcome to join us. At the same time, you should also be comfortable spending your free time independently and exploring the area on your own.
  
  For us, the nicest cultural exchange often happens naturally in everyday life – while cooking together, sharing a meal, talking in the kitchen or working on a project together.

  Aide

  We are looking for someone who would really like to take an active part in our everyday life and genuinely help to make our busy family routine a little easier.
  
  We usually expect around 4–5 hours of real help per day on the agreed helping days. The exact tasks vary depending on what needs to be done, but they may include:
  Helping independently with normal household tasks, such as tidying and cleaning, laundry, vacuuming, keeping the kitchen clean and organised.
  
  Helping in our vegetable garden, maintaining the beds, watering plants or helping on small gardening projects.
  Taking care of our pets and helping with feeding, walking or other everyday animal-related tasks.
  Helping with practical or creative projects around the house and garden, depending on your skills and experience.
  
  Spending time with our children (playing, talking or practising languages with them) is of course part of family life and something we enjoy, but simply hanging out or playing together is not meant to replace the agreed helping hours.
  
  What is especially important to us is initiative and independence. Both of us have busy schedules, so we are looking for someone who can see what needs to be done, take responsibility for agreed tasks and work independently without needing constant instructions or supervision.
  
  You do not need to be a professional or an expert, but you should already be comfortable with normal everyday household tasks and genuinely enjoy contributing. Practical skills in cooking, gardening, DIY, animal care or similar areas are very welcome.
  
  We also value people who do tasks carefully and know their own limits. If you are unsure how to do something, we would always prefer you to ask rather than improvise and risk damaging something.
  
  When contacting us, please tell us a little about what kind of tasks you regularly do at home and which practical skills or experience you already have. This helps us to see whether we are a good match for each other.
  
  Most importantly, we see Workaway as a fair exchange: while you stay with us and share our home, food and family life, we expect you to make a reliable and meaningful contribution to our daily life as well.

  We are happy to share and help you with German, our native language. But we also love communicating in English (our daughters speak English, too!). Maybe you can help us to improve our Spanish or French... or even teach us a completely new language!

  Hébergement

  We can offer you your own spacious room on the top floor with a beautiful view over the neighbourhood and garden. It's kind of a studio, bright and cozy (indeed, one of the nicest rooms in our home!) and you will have plenty of privacy there.
  
  Concerning bathrooms: you are welcome to share our large family bathroom and take showers there. Furthermore, there is an additional guest toilet with sink you can use.
  
  We usually share many of our meals together as a family, and you are very welcome to join us at the kitchen table – the heart and soul of our home, where many stories and laughter are shared!
  
  As part of living together, we share responsibility for meals and the kitchen as well. Sometimes we will cook, sometimes we would be happy if you prepare a meal, and everyone helps with setting the table, clearing up and keeping the kitchen clean afterwards.
  
  We provide normal everyday food and ingredients and are always curious to discover recipes from other countries. If you enjoy cooking and are comfortable preparing meals independently, that's definitely a plus!
  
  For us, sharing food is an important part of family life – but so is sharing the work that comes with it.

  Public transport in our region:
  
  Our little city of Abensberg is easy to reach by train, for example from Regensburg, Ingolstadt or Munich, which also makes it well connected to other parts of Germany.
  
  As we drive to Regensburg on many weekdays, there may sometimes be an opportunity to travel with us. Depending on our schedule, we may also be able to pick you up there when you arrive or take you back for your departure. We also go to Ingolstadt regularly and occasionally to Munich.
  
  During your free time, you are welcome to use one of our bikes to explore the surrounding countryside, nearby towns, shops and cafés independently. There is also a fitness centre, yoga classes, supermarkets and other facilities close to our home.
  
  Having travelled as Workawayers ourselves, we strongly believe that a good Workaway experience should be a genuine and fair exchange for both sides. Clear communication, reliability, honesty and mutual respect are very important to us.
  
  We enjoy welcoming people into our family life, but we also have busy work and family schedules. Therefore, we are looking for Workawayers who are comfortable organising their own free time and who do not expect us to provide a daily programme or entertainment.
  
  At the same time, whenever it fits naturally into our family life, you are very welcome to join us for meals, conversations, walks, outings or other activities.
  
  For us, the best Workaway experiences are those where everyone contributes, communicates openly and takes some responsibility for making everyday life together enjoyable and easy.
  
  We look forward to welcoming you, learning from each other and hopefully sharing a great experience together!

  For travellers who want or need to work online, we can provide the perfect workspace: you will have your on spacious and well-equipped desk in your private studio. It features plenty of natural light and a very positve, comfortable working atmosphere. Of course, or home is also equipped with stable Wi-Fi that you can use for free. Digital nomads are welcome as long as their online work leaves enough time and energy for the agreed Workaway contribution.
