    Description

This is a community project located in a 15 hectare forest that focusses on our vision to create an abundant and biodiverse space where all forms of life can coexist in harmony, where intelligent strategies are implemented to create sustainable ways of living that will benefit the next 7 generations. We see ourselves as co-creators of landscapes and guardians of life.

To achieve this we are creating an alternative, sustainable education hub and regeneration laboratory. Our mission is to change the mindset of people to move from monoculture into biodiversity with hands on experience, and the implementation of reforestation projects.

At the moment our focus is on creating a Montessori Forest hub for children from 1 - 7 years old. While at the same time developing the space to host workshops and events that focus on sustainable living and eco-restoration. Our aim is to offer an experience for visitors who want to take something unique from the space. Whether it is joining us on one of our wide-ranging workshop and holiday experiences.

We are looking forward to you joining us on this journey and helping us make this happen!

We like to work with the philosophy of permaculture, so for those of you that want to get hands-on experience on a permaculture project then this is an ideal project for you to get involved with. We also have plenty of natural building projects, so if you want to gain experience in this field then we will be more than happy to share our knowledge.

We are speaking with members of our extended community to organise a wide range of courses, workshops and events on the land with the aim for the space and community to become more financially sustainable. As long as it does not conflict with the day to day tasks that need to be achieved I am sure that when an event is happening then there will be time to attend classes and sessions.

We are looking for volunteers who bring good energy to the land and community, who take pleasure in giving and are willing to get involved in a wide range of projects to help create the vision.

The day to roles that we require help with:

The Forest Management: With over 15 hectares of land to manage there is always a lot to do. We need to keep the brush under the trees cleared, Prune branches that are unhealthy or create a potential fire risk. Keep the river cleared of debris making sure it is flowing. As well as start removing eucalyptus trees and coving the routes with a plastic cover to stop them re-growing.

Eco-Restoration: We have cleared a 4 hectare plot of eucalyptus plantation that got burnt out in the super fire of 2017. We are in the process of regenerating this land focussing on water collection and management, soil generation, seed bombing and planting trees.

The Natural building Projects: On the land, we always have a number of projects to achieve to move the project along to achieve our vision. These projects vary from rebuilding terrace stone walls, building structures that we need to improve the comfort of our living arrangements or are just simply for fun.

Montessori Forest Hub: We are in the process of creating the space for the children to be able to enjoy social interaction and learning while being in nature. We need to create a garden for them to enjoy, build natural fencing to keep them safe as well as a playground for them to expend there energy.

The Garden: We want to create a no dig vegetable and raised herb beds. Plus plant a fruit trees orchard of over 100 trees. To achieve this we need to create the raised beds using materials from the land, tending to the plants, water the beds and trees, de-weeding and preparing the compost piles for next season's planting and finally harvesting any crops that are ready for the kitchen.

The Kitchen: Helping with the preparation of three meals a day to feed the community. Washing and cleaning of the kitchen.

We are living in a remote forest valley and as a result, we are only allowed to have temporary structures for accommodation. So we offer Glamping to our visitors.

For those of you who don't know what this is Glamping is a fusion of glamour and camping, glamping is where nature meets modern luxury. No longer do we have to simply witness nature—we can live in it too, without having to sacrifice any creature comforts.

So we have a number of bell tents available. For volunteers we supply a 3 meter tent which is great for both singles and couples.

For those of you who prefer to be more secluded and intimate with nature then you are welcome to bring your own tent and find the perfect spot in the forest.

We have hot water facilities to wash, do the dishes, showers and a bath. However, at present the bath is out in the open, as one of the projects is to build a bath and shower house.

Or alternatively, you can wash in the river and under a small waterfall, which is very beautiful if not a little bracing.
