Description
Originally from Los Angeles I have a lovely home in the Peneda-Gerês National Park in Northern Portugal. I am doing many small projects at my new home including general cleaning, landscaping, other remodeling-type projects AND I need a cat sitter sometimes. If you like to cook, and/or speak Portuguese that would be a huge benefit!

I immigrated to Portugal 5 years ago - I am an anarchist and not a huge consumer. I am an artist and have experience with social justice activism. There have been many wonderful stories passed between my workaway volunteers and myself that highlight our commonalities and have formed some long term relationships.

I am in a small village that is a tourist destination. There are 2 small markets, several cafes and restaurants all within easy walking distance. Also very close to natural pools and endless hiking!

Julius was a perfect workawayer! Friendly, communicative, tidy and did all that we asked of him. We only got to enjoy his company for a few days because he house/pet sat for us but we would recommend him.

Khadija and Seamus asked me to house/plant/dog sit for them for a few days, so sadly I didn't spend much time with them, but it was an overall great experience! The communication went great, they were really welcoming and and made sure I had everything I needed. And their dog is the sweetest!

This folks confirmed with me a few days before the arrival date. I blocked others from coming because we can only have a few people help at a time now. I bought extra food for them and they never showed up or emailed/texted to cancel. Not cool at all.

Can't give any feedback on this person's work because we confirmed his stay with us to help with our project, I prepared a room for him and also bought extra food for the weekend but he never showed up nor emailed/called to cancel.

Great to have Lourdes and Fernando, they did so much work and I was worried that they were jet-lagged from their trip! I enjoyed their travel stories and they are inspirational to us! Invite them to come work for you, you will not regret it!

Jose was a good and conscientious worker, communicative, and fun to be around. His girlfriend disappeared 2 of the 4 days we worked, but did her share of work the 2 days she did participate. I would recommend Jose for sure, Valentina not so much.

SOLENE!!! JOEY!!! ONYX!!! TITI & SPIRIT!!!! We loved loved loved Solene and Joey and their wonderful pets. They helped us SO much on our project and it was the worst possible digging and moving rocks! I would recommend them to anyone, they are sweet and perfect guests and workers. Had a great time with Phillip, he was a hard worker and quite interesting and funny. He came up with a brilliant back-pain saving idea for our work and we will use it from now on. We will be looking him up in Austria and hope he comes back when in the states!

This was a educational experience where I learned about the art of building and eco-dome. I had a nice place to sleep and food to fuel my body. It was great to see all the environmental friendly strategies that were used at this home. Thank you for the opportunity to volunteer at your place.
