We are a small community of young people interested in land-based living located just north of Asheville. This year we've begun the process of turning our backyard into a food forest! There's a growing herd of goats and a small flock of ducks and chickens that we rotationally graze. There are often folks around doing projects around land management, animal husbandry, carpentry, gardening, and arts&crafts.

You can expect to learn about integrated animal agriculture, regenerative agriculture, permaculture, basic building and handy skills, gardening, and rotational grazing. While you're here, you may get the opportunity to learn about foraging, "primitive" skills, plant propagation, planting fruit trees, etc depending on how the timing works out. I speak some Spanish and like to practice. We expect to learn from you as well, so please let us know what you would like to share!
This season we're looking for someone to help consistently with the livestock. You'll learn how to move electric netting, how to care for the animals' basic needs, and possibly helping with births and other vet-related tasks. Mulching and landscaping will happen throughout the season as well. Some basic carpentry or plumbing projects may come up and there will definitely be opportunities for working in the garden.

Stable foods will be available and you will have access to a kitchen. We love to cook for people but can't always, so you can expect to cook for yourself sometimes. Often times we have big family style meals. You are invited to cook for everybody if you'd like.
We're 15 minutes from downtown Asheville and 30 minutes from Hot Springs. There are great hikes as little as 20 minutes away, including on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Weaverville is a small town with most basic amenities, only 5 minutes from the house.
