  Description

  After spending 30 years in Berlin and several years travelling through Latin America in a van, I moved to Brittany in 2021 to create a more sustainable way of life in harmony with nature. What started as a very personal project has since become a shared adventure when my partner Sonny joined me. Together, we continue to develop this place with great passion, attention to detail, and the desire to create a welcoming and inspiring environment.
  
  We grow vegetables, herbs, and fruit following permaculture principles, care for our animals, and gradually develop the farm step by step. We recently purchased the neighbouring property which opened up a whole new and exciting chapter for us! The tasks change throughout the seasons and reflect the daily life of a constantly evolving farm.

  We can share with you everything we know about growing veggies, cooking, preserving and hosting as well as the history of Brittany and all things bycicle!
  
  We value a healthy balance between shared moments and personal time. During the week, we enjoy working, cooking, and sharing meals together. Weekends are usually our time to recharge as a couple, and we encourage volunteers to use their free time to explore Brittany, visit the lake, go hiking, discover local markets, borrow one of our bicycles to explore the surrounding area—or simply slow down and do nothing, which, if anywhere, is a skill that can be practised very well here.

  Aide

  We ask for around 4–5 hours of help per day, 5 days a week. Depending on what is happening at the time, this may include gardening, animal care, DIY projects, general property maintenance, or harvesting and preserving fruit and vegetables.
  
  We especially enjoy welcoming volunteers who are independent, curious, and happy to take initiative. We're looking for people who enjoy getting involved, think for themselves, contribute their own ideas, and aren't afraid to ask questions whenever something isn't clear.
  
  Life on the farm doesn't follow a strict schedule. Every day is different and depends on the weather, the season, and the projects we're working on. We prefer adapting to the rhythm of nature rather than following a rigid timetable. This flexibility also applies to the working schedule: it's often possible to adjust help hours, help either in the morning or the afternoon, or occasionally swap a weekday for a weekend day if it works well for everyone. We try to stay as flexible as possible and appreciate volunteers who approach farm life with the same mindset. We understand that this way of living isn't for everyone. If you prefer fixed routines and a highly predictable schedule, our farm may not be the best fit for you.

  Sonny is native in French and fluent in English and Spanish. My mother tonue ist German and I speak English and French fluently.

  Hébergement

  We have just opened our new volunteer house. It offers a large shared bedroom for up to four people, a shared living and dining area, a fully equipped kitchen, and a bathroom. Although we can accommodate up to four volunteers, we usually prefer hosting two people, or a maximum of three, to keep the atmosphere relaxed and personal.
  
  Living together means being considerate of both the people and the spaces around us. We place great importance on keeping shared areas clean and tidy, both in the volunteer house and in our own home, where most of our meals are prepared and shared, with everyone naturally pitching in.
  
  We are a vegetarian household, so we kindly ask that you please don’t bring any meat or fish into the property.

  TRAVEL INFORMATION
  
  The nearest towns are Pontivy, Carhaix-Plouguer, and Guingamp. Rennes is a little further away but offers many more transport connections.
  
  Most volunteers travel by public transport to one of these towns and then continue by BlaBlaCar to Gouarec, Pontivy, or Rostrenen. We can pick you up from there.
  
  UPDATE: There is now also the regional bus line 229 between Rennes and Brest, which runs five times a day and stops at the Leclerc supermarket in Rostrenen, just a few minutes from our farm. We'd be happy to pick you up there as well.
  
  At the farm there is no place for discrimination, racism, sexism, fascism, antisemitism nor any other kind of hate.
