Volunteers welcome from March to July or August to December 2022!
Ollantaytambo is a small Andean village at a cultural crossroads. As the town and region undergo very rapid environmental, economic, social and cultural changes, we believe education is a vital tool for local people to be able to meet the challenges of today and the future. Children must be equipped to autonomously and responsibly manage their natural resources, and cultural heritage; and to compete on a local and global level. We aim to offer them a new type of education - one that prepares them more holistically to engage these challenges.
We are a non-profit locally based educational organization. Through our scholarship program we offer affordable, quality elementary school education to the families of Ollantaytambo. The school opened its doors in March of 2013 with a single classroom of 6 First and Second graders led by one English speaking international teacher and a local Peruvian teacher. In 2016 the school served 18 elementary school students and we expect to have a maximum of 20 students in the 2018 school year. Students at the school are of a diverse social, cultural and economic backgrounds, including Quechua speaking Andean students, as well as a number of international students from Latin America, Europe and the United States.
From 2018 we have merged with a partner preschool project and now serve children from age 3 to 10. Our school is now bigger and hoping to develop.

We ask volunteers to stay for us for a whole semester: from March to July or from August to December 2022.
School year begins in March and finishes the third week of December, with vacations in between for one week in May, July and October. We do not have classes from December to February.

En la escuela tanto los niños como los profesores buscan tener intercambio de idioma inglés ya que lo están aprendiendo.
Ollantaytambo is a unique place to live and work. Candidates should expect conditions to be different from what they might be accustomed to and be willing to adapt to this new social, cultural and physical environment.
