Description
I was born in Austria and have been married to my husband Angelo for 20 years. We have been living in the beautiful Sabina region north of Rome for ten years. We live in a country house overlooking the Tiber valley. Our family includes four dogs, two donkeys, three cats, some ducks and chickens. We have 2 hectares of land with an olive grove and a large vegetable garden. There is always something to do and certainly something to learn. The tasks of the workawayer will probably be to help with the pruning of the olive trees, to do the mowing and also to help out in the vegetable garden. Of course, culture is not neglected either: the proximity of Rome and our domicile in the Sabine Hills (Etruscan region) offer countless possibilities. We look forward to welcoming you to our home!

The workawayer is welcomed as a member of the family. As I am Austrian and my husband is Italian, the workawayer comes into contact with two languages and two cultures and can benefit from this. I am a translator, so I can communicate in both German and Italian. My husband is also a trained musician and plays the trumpet.
We are always open to other cultures and enjoy learning new things.
Ponzano Romano, a charming little town located about 40 kilometers north of Rome, offers a unique cultural exchange that blends ancient Roman history, rural Italian traditions, and an immersive experience of Lazio's natural beauty.. Being so close to Rome, Ponzano Romano and its neighboring towns have a strong Roman influence. The entire Lazio region is scattered with Roman ruins, aqueducts, and historical buildings. Not far from Ponzano, you can visit the remains of ancient villas, stone bridges, and tombs that date back to the Roman Empire, providing insight into early Roman rural life
There are various bike-trails around Ponzano Romano that let you enjoy the scenic views of the Tiber River and surrounding countryside. Exploring these trails is a fantastic way to connect with both the natural environment and rural culture. It is also possible to go canoeing and kayaking on the River Tiber
.
Overall, Ponzano Romano provides a well-rounded cultural experience through its historical roots, culinary traditions, natural beauty, and proximity to Rome. It offers an authentic immersion into Italian life with both relaxation and opportunities for rich cultural exchanges.Aide
We are a private homestead and we have two hectares of land with an olive grove and a large vegetable garden, there is always work to be done. We are mainly looking for someone to help with pruning the olive trees and harvesting the olives. With a house in the country there is always some maintenance to be done. In the spring, the meadow needs to be mowed, as the land is partly sloping. The tasks of the workawayer will probably be to help with the pruning of the olive trees, to do the mowing and also to help out in the vegetable garden, possibly also some minor maintenance tasks on the house. Workawayers will have the chance to learn how to prune the olive trees and harvesting the olives.

Our house in the countryside of Ponzano Romano offers two charming accommodation options, each with unique features.
Attic Apartment: This attic has a private bathroom with shower and WC. It’s ideal for travelers who want a tranquil space to relax after a day of exploring.
Ground Floor Apartment: This spacious, completely independent unit comes with a private entrance, bathroom, and equipped kitchen, allowing guests total autonomy during their stay. A highlight of this apartment is the large balcony overlooking the Tiber Valley, offering beautiful views.
For Workawayers staying with us (like a member of our family), food will be an integral part of the cultural exchange, offering not only sustenance but also an authentic experience of Italian cuisine.
Each morning, a light Italian breakfast will be provided. This might include coffee or tea, fresh bread, jam, fruit, and pastries or cereals if preferred. Breakfast is a casual start to the day, often enjoyed together before beginning daily activities.
Lunch will be a heartier meal, typically eaten together, and will feature traditional Italian dishes. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn about Italian meal customs and savor dishes like pasta with seasonal sauces, fresh salads, and local cheese or cured meats. Workawayers are welcome to join in meal preparation if they’re interested in learning how to make these dishes.
Dinner: Dinner will be a lighter meal in the Italian tradition, with options like soups, risotto, vegetable dishes, and fresh bread. This will also be a shared meal, providing another chance for conversations and cultural exchange.Autres infos...
