This is a small friendly camping pod and bunkhouse business located on the Isle of North Uist in The Outer Hebrides off the West coast of Scotland.
The area is popular with tourists because of its proximity to The Hebridean Way cycle route, its remoteness, its fantastic unspoilt beaches, its bird, wild and insect life, its unique machair ecosystems, its abundant archaeological sites, its excellent fly fishing, its surf and kite surfing opportunities, opportunities for photography and art, its Gaelic culture and heritage and its peace and tranquility.
It has something for everyone!
Our guests stay for one, two or more nights with many repeat visits - they soon become friends and making sure they are happy is not work it's a pleasure.
Accueil / tourisme
It is a pretty laid back place and as long as the changeovers and daily chores get done each day the rest of the day is your own.
You will have plenty of opportunities to practice your English talking to guests and I'm always keen to learn other languages!
Job sharing couples are welcome.
Uist is what you make of it. It's perfect if you want peace and tranquility and enjoy exploring and your own company, alternatively the local community is welcoming but tight knit, there is a pub 3 miles (5km) away and a community centre with Cafe and Gym about 5 miles (8km) away.

The work mainly involves the daily changeover - changing and laundering bedding, cleaning pods and bunk rooms, cleaning the kitchen and communal areas and making sure the shower and toilet areas are sparkling.
In addition there may be gardening work such as cutting and strimming grass and helping with the peats in the peating season.
You will work every Saturday - other than that days off will be flexible.
Work starts at 9-00 ish and carries on until it's finished - a full changeover for 24 people takes less than 5 hours.
You will be required to work on your own or alongside another member of the team.
Experience preferred in the hospitality sector but training can be given to the right candidate. A willingness to work hard and an enthusiasm for providing guests with a great holiday experience is more important to maintaining our high standards than past experience.
Workaways are always welcome to gain experience in our family business and we are happy to provide references for the future careers of those who have proved they can enhance the Hebridean experience of our guests.
A single or small double camping pod will be provided. The pod has electricity and a large with camp cooking facilities and a peat fired stove.
You are welcome to use the bunk house facilities for cooking and showering from when you finish work until 4pm but outside these hours there is an outside kitchen area and toilet/showering facilities for your use.
You will provide and cook your own food.
Wifi is provided in the bunk house and you can get a very good 4G signal in the pods if you are on the EE mobile network.
Workaways will find the attractions of North Uist very similar to what attracts tourists to the Hebrides.
Ideally Workaways will have their own transport to gain maximum benefit from their stay here. However there is a good local public transport system that allows you to travel the whole of the Hebridean island chain.
A bicycle can be provided.
