  Description

  I am Claudia, I live in a small turistic town in Chilean Patagonia, called Puerto Guadal. I moved here 1 year ago and started a small bakery from home, which has grown quite quickly. This is my main activity and I employ a local girl who bakes with me. I recently had to move house and had to start all over again. I would love to have some help with the garden, terrace, painting, and general projects. Also, I collect fruit during spring and summer, so I would love some help. If I have to travel, I will appreciate the help of someone who can responsibly take care of the house and pets.
  
  Puerto Guadal is almost 300 kms south Coyhaique, the capital of the Aysen Region, 9 kms from the Carretera Austral crossroad and is located by the General Carrera Lake. It's a very quiet town with a very nice weather. I live iwith my pets: Olivia (dog), Puntito and Rayitas (cats).
  
  I am also a translator English-Spanish, and ocasionally I am busy with this work, really concentrated to meet the dealines.

  Volunteers can immerse in nature invironment typical of the Chilean Patagonia, learn Spanish and relate with local people, but with the comfort of a city, such as mobile and optic fiber internet connection. As a translator, I have great abilities with languages and I can teach Spanish to whoever requires it.
  Additionally, you can share and help when I bake bread or pastries. I also enjoy knitting and you can join me to knit something you can bring with you.
  
  Los voluntarios podrán sumergirse en un ambiente de naturaleza típico de la Patagonia Chilena, aprender español y relacionarse con personas locales, pero con las comodidades de una ciudad, como por ejemplo, señal de celular e internet de fibra óptica. Como traductora, tengo grandes habilidades con el idioma y puedo enseñar español a quienes lo requieran. Adicionalmente, puedes compartir cuando hornee el pan o prepare pasteles. También disfruto de tejer y me puedes acompañar a tejer algo que te puedas llevar contigo.

  I recently move to a house needing a lot of help mainly in the yard, and woodshed. As I have a bakery, I would love some creativity to arrange the woodshed, which is in very bad conditions, and separate a corner for the bakery terrace. We will need to use some reclaimed material existing in the property to make magic.
  The yard has some fruit trees and bushes, they need to be taken care, plant flowers to make a beautiful garden with a entrance for pedestrians, which now is pure mud.
  Ideal volunteers should have construction abilities and no physical or health problems that prevents them from executing the tasks required. I'll do my best to have tools and materials to execute the tasks.
  
  Acabo de mudarme a una casa que necesita mucha ayuda, principalmente en el jardín y leñera. Debido a que tengo una pastelería, me encantaría algo de creatividad para arreglar la leñera, que está en muy malas condiciones, y separar una esquina de ésta para dejarla como terraza de la pastelería. Necesitaremos usar materiales reciclados existentes en la propiedad y hacer magia.
  El patio tiene algunos árboles y arbustos frutales que necesitan cuidado, plantar flores y hacer un hermoso jardín con una entrada peatonal, la que ahora es puro lodo.

  Hébergement

  The house has 2 bedrooms (1 is mine and the other for 1 volunteer, which I will use also for rental, a small room with a dining table and a sofa, 1 shared bathroom with a bathtub, shower and washing machine. The kitchen is quite large, which is used mainly for the bakery, it has a little space with a counter to receive clientes. So I ask volunteers to be respectful with the schedule, order and cleaning of it. My pets live inside the house, but are usually around going in and out freely, except they cannot get into the kitchen. It is very important that volunteers are pet friendly and do not have any problem with co-living with them inside the house. The bed offered is a single bed and include full bedding. Volunteers must bring their own personal cleaning articles and towel. Accommodation include full board with 3 meals per day (breakfast, lunch, and "once" [similar to breakfast, typical in Chile]). Vegetables are quite expensive here. There is a street market on Saturdays with fresh vegetables from local farmers. If you need more, you can buy from them. Normally, we eat bread, marmalades, canned food, legumes, potatoes, spaghetti, rice, broths and stews. I recommend to bring your own food if you have a special diet (eg. vegans, vegetarians, celiac or lactose intolerants, etc.).
  It's important that volunteers help maintaining the order and cleaning of the house.
  Smoking is not allowed inside the house or at the terrace (I am allergic to cigarettes smoke), so I prefer non-smoking volunteers.
  Volunteers are not allowed to bring visitors to the house and must respect the rest scheduled.
  
  La casa 2 habitaciones (1 es mía y otra para 1 persona voluntaria), living comedor pequeño con 1 mesa y 1 sofá, 1 baño compartido con tina, ducha y lavadora. La cocina es bastante amplia, la cual se usa principalmente para la pastelería, tiene un espacio pequeño con un mesón de atención de clientes. Por este motivo, solicito a los voluntarios ser respetuosos con el horario, orden y limpieza de la cocina. Mis mascotas viven adentro de la casa, pero usualmente se mantienen cerca entrando y saliendo libremente, excepto que no pueden ingresar a la cocina. Es muy importante que los voluntarios sean amigables con las mascotas y no tengan inconvenientes en convivir con ellos dentro de la casa. La habitación de los voluntarios tiene una cama de 1.5 plazas e incluye la ropa de cama. Los voluntarios deben traer sus propios artículos de aseo personal y toalla. El alojamiento incluye 3 comidas al día: desayuno, almuerzo y once (similar al desayuno, típico en Chile). Las verduras y frutas son bastante caras aquí. Existe una feria los días sábado con verduras frescas de los huertos locales. Si necesitas más, puedes comprarles a ellos. Normalmente se come pan, mermeladas, conservas, legumbres, papas, fideos, arroz, guisos, caldos y estofados. Te recomiendo traer tu propio alimento si tienes dietas especiales (ejemplo: veganos, vegetarianos, celiacos o con intolerancia a la lactosa, etc).
  Es importante que los voluntarios ayuden a mantener el orden y limpieza de la casa.
  No se permite fumar dentro de la casa o en la terraza (soy alérgica al humo del cigarro), por lo que prefiero que las personas voluntarias no sean fumadoras.
  Las personas voluntarias no pueden traer visitas a la casa y deben respetar el horario de descanso.

  Puerto Guadal has three mini markets with a wide range of products, a couple of little groceries stores with basic articles, a rural health care center, and a gas station. It is recommended that you bring cash, since there is no bank or ATM in the town. If you are Chilean and own a Banco Estado account, there are several Cajas Vecinas. If you are under a medical treatment, bring your own medicines. In case of extreme emergency, we can count on the assistance of the health care center (which is intended only for residents). To get Puerto Guadal, it is necessary to first arrive in Coyhaique (flights arrive in Balmaceda, 40 minutes away). Buses to Puerto Guadal depart twice a week at 1PM from the Bus Station. The journey is around 7 hours through a road mainly of gravel, which due to road constructions, present traffic cuts in some areas. If you decide to hitchhike, you must consider this for your trip planning.
  There are several activities in the town or in nearby towns, such as trekking, horse riding, rafting, kayaking, camping near glaciers, trekking on glaciers, boat trips, etc. Here, I can give you more details to help you plan your time off.

  Puerto Guadal tiene tres mini markets con una amplia gama de productos, unas cuantos almacenes con artículos básicos, una posta rural y una estación de combustible. Se recomienda traer efectivo, ya que no hay bancos ni cajeros. Si eres chileno y tienes una cuenta del Banco Estado, existen varias Cajas Vecinas. Trae tus propias medicinas en caso de estar bajo algún tratamiento médico. En caso de emergencia extrema, se puede contar con la asistencia de la posta rural (que está destinado solo para residentes). Para llegar a Puerto Guadal es necesario llegar a la ciudad de Coyhaique (el avión llega a Balmaceda, distante a unos 40 minutos). Los buses parten dos veces a la semana, a las 13 hrs. desde el terminal de buses de Coyhaique. El viaje dura aproximadamente 7 horas por una carretera mayoritariamente de ripio, la cual debido a arreglos viales, presenta cortes de tránsito en algunos sectores. Si decides venir a dedo, considera esto para tu planificación de viaje.
  Existen variadas actividades dentro del pueblo y en los pueblos cercanos, tal como trekking, cabalgatas, rafting, kayaking, camping en glaciares, caminatas en glaciares, paseos en bote, etc. Acá te puedo orientar con más detalles para planificar tu tiempo libre.
