LOOKING FOR WORKAWAY's FOR ONE WEEK STAYS
OPEN TO LAST MOMENT WORKAWAYERS..
its SPRING here on the island !!!
so lots of gardens to be "mucked" and cleaned and raked for gardens awakening
its work all on a slope-side over looking the ocean and mountains in the distance.
someone with care of gardens is great to have around at this time of year
it is a skill learnt easy just takes patience to do
assistance with pressure washing is also always appreciated from helpful hands
it is a zen job of sorts many have mentioned
patience again and attention to detail...
a rewarding task to look back and see what you have done in a day
we always have cords of firewood that needs a chopped into kindling
if someone had axe skills and knew how to do this..
and hauling of firewood down the hillside is a "workout" approached needed person
there is often a small building project or two that need to be done too..
if you enjoy ocean front and outside work with nature all around you...
with eagles flying over head and whales in the strait..

i exist on a large parcel of land overlooking the ocean
on the west coast of vancouver island - canada
this is a remote setting...far from towns and villages...
there are amazing views and quiet beauty of nature...

and they say we exist in paradise
nature abounds in ever corner of our little island
come explore and "feel" the harmonics of nature

"what gifts or skills they might have to trade and share knowledge of..."
have had some great answers...and fun projects...
good conversation is a awesome attribute...
respectful & honest workawayer is important
you need to be guest friendly & gay friendly & animal friendly...
basically friendly and open minded works well at this peaceful space ..
this post is more for january to may-ish ( i do plan to get away in march for a bit of vacation )
and for one week stays...
short term engagements are requested....
and little notice needed...
so ask if your interested in coming...

there is a cozy private woodsie hut for trade
for those willing to do fair work trade.
the hut has cold water only
and an outside toilet / sink...
there is access to a hot water at an ocean front shower when needed...
this hut is totally ocean front with forest all around..
that is in trade for four-five hours a day help.
ideal is ONE WEEK VOLUNTEER stays.
i am located on vancouver island...
if you passing through do not hesitate to call...

i am sure willing for volunteer workers to accompany me to sooke village
to interact with numerous interesting village folks...
this site offers amazing space of ocean walks
and quiet calm freedom from the pace of city...
there is no television here but there is internet access...
a calm volunteer that is looking for less city and more country
would be best placed here...

he is a really cool dude
and did his work and was able to entertain himself on his own when needed be

Staying with Ritchard really felt like catching up with an old friend. Good talks, good food, great time.
The place was also amazing, a precious land by the see. I wish I could of stayed there longer to do some more meaningful work.

Ritchard is a superbly wonderful, caring human being. We quickly became friends and I intend to stay in touch for many years to come. The lodge is magnificent with easy access to the ocean and lovely sunrises and sunsets. I recommend a visit to the Sooke Potholes, an Americano at the Cold Shoulder in Jordon River and stargazing in the hot tub :)

This location is incredible, so many neat and interesting activities to do, with so much to see as well. Ritchard is a super caring and considerate person who is willing to do what he can to teach you about the land. Not to mention the hot tub and sauna and the outdoor shower! so perfect for workawayers. I will definitely be returning here soon :)

i am really thankful for the possibility to stay on this place. I had made a lot of difference task, so every day was very variedly. After work ritch showed me many beautiful places around the area and also he gives me the chance to meet a lot of local people. Hopefully i can come back sometime.

I stayed and worked here for a week and had a great time. Ritch is an excellent host - very hospitable and easy to get along with. This was my first workaway experience and I would have no hesitation in helping out here again in the future.
