H! I'm Thomas Gauthier from France.

I'm a 24-year-old young worker in urban planning and urbanism. I currently live in Paris, but I come from Dijon, the capital of mustard and red wine.

I took one of the biggest decisions in my life. I'm quitting my job in January to escape to South America. I'm planning to travel across the continent from Patagonia to Ecuador, including Chile, Argentina, Bolivia, and Peru. I will travel by bus, hitchhiking, trekking, and sometimes I will settle in your house and have a great Workaway experience.
I'm looking for wonderful adventures in order to meet, I hope, great people and share with them my good humor.

I'm happiest when exploring nature on hikes, swimming in the sea, connecting with new people from different backgrounds, and caring for the planet and animals. I am a nature lover. I often climb in the French Alps and go mountainering. I like climbing, hiking, fishing, and kayaking, basically all outdoor activities.
I'm a good teacher and I can initiate you to a range of different sports: trekking, climbing, mountaineering.

Thanks to my education, I can teach you a lot of stories and adventures about History, Politics, Architecture, Sports, and Arts.

I'm a very easy-going person and I am happy to help with any jobs that need to be done. There are loads more I could tell you about what motivates me and brings me happiness but I'm sure we can get to that when we're bonding in person.

I had 2 great workaway experiences: one with a lovely Slovak family in Sweden (when I was 18) and another in a beautiful hostel in England in 2019. These trips were amazing. I exchanged a lot of stories about politics, traveling, and ways of living in different cultures.

Hola a todos. Soy Thomas Gauthier, de Francia.

Soy un joven de 24 años que trabaja en planificación urbana y urbanismo. Actualmente vivo en París, pero vengo de Dijon, la capital de la mostaza y el vino tinto.

He tomado una de las decisiones más importantes de mi vida. Voy a dejar mi trabajo en enero para escaparme a Sudamérica. Pienso recorrer el continente desde la Patagonia hasta Ecuador, pasando por Chile, Bolivia y Perú. Viajaré en autobús, autostop, trekking, y a veces me instalaré en tu casa y tendré una gran experiencia Workaway.
Busco aventuras maravillosas para conocer, espero, grandes personas y compartir con ellas mi buen humor.

Soy más feliz explorando la naturaleza en excursiones, nadando en el mar, conectando con gente nueva de diferentes orígenes y cuidando del planeta y los animales. Soy un amante de la naturaleza. Suelo escalar en los Alpes franceses y hacer montañismo. Me gusta la escalada, el senderismo, la pesca y el kayak, básicamente todas las actividades al aire libre. C Soy un buen profesor y puedo enseñarte a correr o iniciarte en diferentes deportes: senderismo, escalada, andinismo.

Gracias a mi educación, puedo enseñarte un montón de historias y aventuras sobre Historia, Política, Arquitectura, Deportes y Artes.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

My last workaway jobs in Sweden and England provide me with a lot of different and useful skills.

- In Sweden, I cut the grass and took care of the garden. I helped with reconstruction projects with the cottages in the camp, cleaning cottages, painting, firewood processing, renovation, and cutting down bushes and grass.

- In England, I worked in a 3-star hotel, during a very busy period. I helped with a range of tasks each day including as a waiter for breakfast and in the tearoom and bar, as well as helping with housekeeping and guest service duties. I integrated very well into the team of volunteers and permanent staff. I always try to pay attention to any detail and be in a positive relationship with guests, other volunteers, and my hosts.

Otherwise, I'm good at organizing projects such as tourism/mountain trips or expeditions.

I would like to learn more about mountain or other fields like permaculture, and sustainable development projects.

Finally, one of my first quality is the "joie de vivre"! I'm always motivated and full of energy. I'm often laughing and I've a sense of humor. I reckon it is the best way to work.

Mis últimos trabajos en Suecia e Inglaterra me han proporcionado muchas habilidades diferentes y útiles.

- En Suecia, corté el césped y cuidé del jardín. Ayudé en los proyectos de reconstrucción de las cabañas del campamento, limpiando las cabañas, pintando, procesando leña, renovando y cortando arbustos y hierba.

- En Inglaterra, trabajé en un hotel de 3 estrellas, el Thatched Cottage Hotel, durante un periodo de mucho trabajo. Ayudé en diversas tareas cada día, como camarero en el desayuno, en el salón de té y en el bar, así como en las tareas de limpieza y de atención a los huéspedes. Me integré muy bien en el equipo de voluntarios y personal fijo. Siempre intento prestar atención a cualquier detalle y mantener una relación positiva con los huéspedes, los demás voluntarios y mis anfitriones.

Por lo demás, se me da bien organizar proyectos como viajes de turismo/montaña o expediciones.

Me gustaría aprender más sobre montaña u otros campos como la permacultura, y proyectos de desarrollo sostenible.

Por último, una de mis primeras cualidades es la alegría de vivir. Siempre estoy motivada y llena de energía. A menudo me río y tengo sentido del humor. Creo que es la mejor manera de trabajar.
