Hey there!
My name is Taé, I'm 21 (soon 22) years old and I'm from France. I recently got back from a 14 months trip across Australia, Asia and Europe, and I'm already planning my next journey to a part of the world I haven't explored yet: North America !!!
I just obtained a 2 years working-holiday visa to Canada and I'm thinking about visiting the US this summer before starting my Canadian adventure. I always try to make my travels about more than sightseeing so I'm actively looking for interesting volunteering opportunities to make my experiences unforgettable!
________
As far as I can remember, my biggest dream has always been to travel the world. So as soon as I hit 18, I left home and started pursuing it. I first went to Portugal where I lived and worked for a few months before moving to the north of Sweden to work with sled dogs. I then went backpacking in Costa Rica and shortly after returning home I decided to apply for a working visa in Australia. I lived and worked there for about 6 months and then embarked on a 7 months journey across south-east Asia. I then spontaneously decided to spend a few weeks in Nepal before reaching Ireland to work in a b&b, took a ferry to Scotland and traveled all the way down to London for a very last train ride to my hometown back in France
Besides traveling, I have many interests and I should start with outdoorsy sports and activities. I grew up in the valley of Chamonix-Mont-Blanc in the french alps so I was basically born on skis and spent my whole childhood hiking, climbing, cycling and these are things that I still highly enjoy doing (especially skiing). I also fell in love with surfing later in my life and despite a scary accident that nearly got me killed I keep trying hard to get better at it. I more recently discovered myself a new interest in photography and filmmaking. I don’t have any particular skill for it yet, I just like to experiment and try new things, especially when traveling. I'm also big into music: I taught myself how to play piano as a teenager and started learning guitar recently. I will finish by mentioning that I highly enjoy cooking!
If you ended up on my profile and think that I could be a great fit for you, please don’t hesitate to contact me!
Can't wait to hear from you :)

I spent every summer from the age of 16 to 20 working in a woodworking workshop for children. My role was to ensure the smooth running of the activity, see for children's safety, do some woodwork myself, and make sure that children and families were having a good time. It was a rather tough job because I was the only employee, and the workshop was removable. Which means that my boss and I had to load and unload a truck full of woodworking machines, big tents, desks and other heavy tools at least twice a day. This job really taught me a lot: it made me socially comfortable around children and adults, gave me a sense of hard work and countless manual and physical abilities.
As mentioned above, I've also been volunteering in a sled dogs business in the north of Sweden. I had many different tasks there but it was mainly about the dogs. I had to feed them and clean the kennels twice a day, get them ready for training, assist during trainings, let them out of the kennels and put them back in, and trust me, that was not an easy task! But as hard as it was,I gained so much from this experience. I got to see northern lights, catch a glimpse of the lapland lifestyle, see wild bears and mooses...
Besides helping with the dogs, I lended a hand in the building of a small office room from start to finish, renovated an old tools cabin into a bedroom, bring a tree trunk inside a room for a decoration project, painted a ceiling and other various tasks.
I also got to deal with loneliness as the place was extremely remote and I was the only helper at the time.
More recently, I have been volunteering in a hostel in Australia for a few months, the job was mostly housekeeping. And I worked in a few cafes and restaurants in Australia as well, doing different tasks: Kitchen hand, dishwasher, waitress, runner...
During my time in Asia, I volunteered in an independent English school in Cambodia, as an english teacher. It was one of the best experiences of my life. I had to prepare my own lessons and be able to teach my classes on my own (with the help of a local teacher to translate into khmer language when needed)
And before that when I was in Portugal, I was lucky to have an internship in a dog daycare. Basically the same as for children but for dogs. My job was to take care of them, walk and feed them, welcome the owners... It was a dream job really!Âge
