Description
At the moment I am looking to build on my skills needed to live a self-sustainable life in nature - permaculture, DIY, construction, etc - as I look to one day set up my own off-grid project. I am more than happy to get down and dirty and do any hard, physical, manual-type labour. And it's a bonus if I get to practice my rusty Spanish or if there is a spiritual side to life on your project (I am a keen meditator)

Simon was a great house guest and helper. We very much appreciated his flexibility when it came to varied jobs and help around the house, and his willingness to stay with the task of making and dressing wooden roof tiles. During one month on this great project, I was mainly helping to create the wooden shingles (roof tiles) for the renovation of the main building but I was also able to get involved in some of the community courses (working with timber frames, hot lime and wattle and daub) and even got to help out at a wood festival! I had an awesome time at Gretl’s place near Alcublas. I was there for around 3/4 weeks and got involved in a variety of tasks; some creative (making wall mosaics), some DIY (fixing tools and parts of the building), some generally maintenance (Cleaning, taking trash to the dump site). I just finished a five week stint here, and I’m gutted to have to leave now! If I could, I would have stayed here much longer and my plan is to come back as soon as possible.

Simon was a 'last minute' WorkAway. Luckily for me he was available for a couple of weeks before his plans kick in to travel abroad. Simon's skill set is useful and diverse and he will give anything he hasn't previously tried, a go. Sue is an amazing host, and person! She is super welcoming, accommodating and flexible - both with hours worked and tasks (which mainly consisted of, in my case, looking after the garden, cleaning the boat and chopping wood). Rafa and Kim are two of the coolest people you'll ever meet and definitely the best Workaway hosts; super laid-back, sociable and fun. This was my first Workaway/hostel experience, and for me this was a perfect place for it. Paco, the owner, is a super chill, friendly and laidback person who you can go to for help with anything, as with all the other volunteers there.
