Hi! My name is Lachlan (or Lachie for short).

I am a keen traveler and I am looking for opportunities to explore different cultures, and to develop and apply my skills through meaningful work.

I love to seek out new experiences and try to always challenge myself to keep learning. At home, I work as a full-time professional IT security engineer and enjoy hiking, flying gliders, photography and playing guitar in my free time.

I've been making short trips to Japan for almost a decade, but after my most recent trip lead me to exploring beautiful rural destinations and having great experiences meeting locals, I made the decision to take an extended full-time trip in order to fully immerse myself in the culture.

Although I haven't yet participated in a Workaway, I am highly driven and a fast learner, and always welcome to opportunity to get out of my comfort zone and try something new.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

My tertiary education and career has been focused on technology, and I am a very capable at programming, web design, IT, and electronic engineering - as a hobby, I hand-build drones to fly for photography and racing.

During my studies, I spent a lot of time working as a volunteer educator. This included developing and delivering lessons to large audiences, and allowed me to get experience in tutoring both children and adults.

I have experience working in a kitchen as a dishwasher and kitchen hand.

I am very pragmatic and I enjoy solving problems, I will happily spend time learning how to do my own maintenance around the house. Additionally, I love to cook for myself and my family, and work in my garden.
