Hello! Thanks for your interest. Please feel free to reach out if, after reading my profile, you feel like you want to :) At the moment I'm in Portugal and only available for medium to long-term summer (June 2024-October 2024) opportunities in Portugal . Thanks!
I’m Keely :) I’m an artist (and former lawyer) and remote worker, currently living in Portugal with my small dog, Stanley (see more about him below). I'm interested in meeting some nice humans and animals in my new home country, and it's the main reason I'm on here. I’m new to workaway and decided to give it a try for the experience — it seems like it could be a great way to discover wonderful places and people that I wouldn’t otherwise, and do some meaningful work. However, please keep in mind, as I mentioned, I am doing this for the EXPERIENCE -- not out of a need for free accommodation or simply to be free labor.
I am looking for opportunities to spend more time being in harmony with nature, living a simple life, meeting nature-loving, self-aware, kind people who tend to focus on the bright side of life, and to explore creative pursuits. I love watching sunrises and sunsets, star gazing, hiking, painting/drawing, animals, cooking/baking, spending time with my toes in the grass/sand/water/earth, swimming/snorkeling, roller-skating, biking, learning to play guitar, making ceramics, hugging trees, spending time in the garden (I love flowers and growing my own food!), and learning languages.
I am pretty independent and like to have some time to myself daily. I don't need others to entertain me, but I enjoy meeting interesting people for meaningful, joyful connections. I eat a primarily plant-based diet (no meat or fish at all, but the occasional dairy product and egg if I feel like it, especially if from well-treated animals), and I don't drink alcohol, smoke, or do any drugs.
Some things I can help out with:
- Vegan/vegetarian cooking/baking — I LOVE to cook and bake and can certainly offer my skills in this area.
- Hospitality/Reception — I have experience in hospitality and as an Airbnb host/co-host, including, among other things, greeting and checking people in/out, cleaning, correspondence, etc.
- Pet/house-sitting, pet/animal care — I can take care of your animals and home! I love animals and I’m very good with them. I’ve done a lot of traveling as a house-sitter and have professional experience taking care of all kinds of animals, including dogs, cats, bunnies, birds, and fish. I had a pet sitting business back in the States and have also had many pets throughout my life.
- Art projects — Painting, drawing, digital art, ceramics, punch needle/fabric art, photoshop/adobe creative suite, photography, etc.
- Garden/farm help — It's my absolute joy spending meditative time in the garden taking care of plants :)
- English language help — Chatting, writing, proofreading, and editing for papers, websites, etc.
- Home improvement projects, organization, cleaning, and DIY projects.
- Helping out with kids – kids and I tend to like each other :) and I’d be happy to hang out with them, play with them, feed them, teach them some art, etc. as long as they are good, sweet kids and you understand that it’s not my full-time job.
-I also have a driver’s license, a car, and can drive manual transmissions.
I am currently available for farm stays, home stays, medium to long-term house/pet-sitting, artist residencies, co-living places, eco-villages, and hospitality. I will have Stanley with me, so it's important that he's welcome as well. I prefer volunteer opportunities where there will be other volunteers or a community of some kind.

I can teach English. I’ve also spent time living in countries that speak German, Danish, French, and Spanish, so I can understand/speak/read in these languages to varying degrees and would love to improve my abilities in each. And now that I'm living in Portugal, of course I'd love opportunities to learn Portuguese.Compétences et connaissances que j'aimerais partager ou apprendre

I’ve had many jobs in my life as well as my own businesses and hobbies, so I have a lot of experience. For example, house/pet/plant sitting (professionally), Airbnb hosting, cleaning, organizing, animal/pet care (dogs, cats, bunnies, fish, birds, and lizards) and plant care, gardening, artistic skills (painting and drawing), DIY projects, using photoshop, adobe creative suite, and procreate (and other general computer skills), and creating natural beauty/hygiene products. I also have experience in reception and hospitality, and as a lawyer, experience in research, writing, proofreading, and setting up businesses, including nonprofits (in the US). I also have a deep passion for cooking and baking, painting/drawing/art creation, and being surrounded by nature. I’m open to learning new skills.

Autres infos...
I'm traveling with my wonderful, adorable, small (7kg), 13-year-old dog, Stanley. He's a chihuahua/poodle mix and is primarily an indoor/apartment dog, so he sleeps inside at night/during the day/etc, but loves to be outside with me when I’m out. He's an easy-going little guy who gets along with other furry (or feathered) friends, including cats, dogs, and chickens. Stanley is smart, well-trained, neutered, and clean, with soft hair-like poodle fur that doesn't shed or smell, and he is on a flea/tick/parasite preventative regimen. I've been his responsible guardian and friend for all 13 years of his life.
