Hi there,
my name is Paul, I am a 36 year old engineer from Germany. After more than 7 years on the job I felt like it was time for some new inspiration to find out what my next gaols in life shall be. And what better way is there than travelling. No matter if it was diving around India's only active Volcano in the Andaman Sea, working in a French castle during my first workaway experience or my bike trip on the world's highest motorable road in the Himalayas, I always made the most memorable experiences while travelling.

Luckily, I got the opportunity to take a gap year starting in August 2025. My first stop shall be Peru and from there on I will see where the wind blows me. The standard tourist approach of going places and seeing sights bores me quickly. I would like to be active and have a task to get involved with the locals. During my first workaway trip I was only able to do this for a few weeks until I used up all of my vacation. But it was exciting and I have been determined to repeat it ever since. It took quite a few years but now I am planning a deep dive. I find it much more rewarding to share the life of the locals for a little while by helping them with their current projects. I hope to get a better understanding of what their life is like and what their view on the word is. If I can improve my language skills and learn one or two new handy skills in the meantime, all the better.

In my free time I enjoy all kinds of sport and working with my hands. I have built several pieces of furniture for my own flat as well as friends and often help out others when it comes to repairs and installations. Besides, I very much enjoy cooking although I often do not have as much time for it as I would like to. During the time we spend together I would love to learn about all the interesting little details of your home region that one usually misses as an ordinary tourist.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

General maintenance tasks that you can find in any household or some painting are usually no problem. Throughout my studies I carried out all sorts of manual work so wielding a screw driver or a hammer will not be to big a challenge either. When it comes to renovations and building stuff for one's home or garden there is a lot I would like to learn though. One day I hope to build or renovate my own house, boat or castle. So if you can help me get there I will be eternally grateful :)
In any case I come equipped with a good technical understanding and the ability to quickly and self-reliantly acquire the necessary knowledge to fix the problem at hand if need be. Or if things are less complicated I certainly do not mind getting my hands dirty to advance your project. Being a fan of sports and exercise the physically demanding part of the job will be appreciated as a welcome workout :)
Also I am passionate about cooking and getting to know the culinary specialties of foreign countries. Hence, I would be delighted to assist you with the preparation of whatever meal we are going to share.
