Since I'm working on building a freelance existence as an artist/writer/filmmaker, I'm mostly interested in house/animal-sitting jobs in Europe (preferably Sweden and Norway).

Description

Hey,
after 13 years mostly working as a scrub nurse, I’m giving up my comfortable life and returning—at least for now—to Hamburg as an artist, writer and filmmaker. I also have experience in gastronomy, dog-walking and sitting, accompanying horseback riding tours, pre-school education and leading creative workshops/courses.

I’m mainly looking for dog-sitting, house-sitting, cat-sitting, or general animal-sitting opportunities. That way, between walks, cuddle sessions, and watering plants, I can continue writing my books, film scripts, and plays—without overstaying my welcome with friends and family for months on end. It’s a nice change of pace and a win-win situation for both the house and pet owners and myself.

I’m an easygoing, very responsible, and sociable person. I eat everything, though I prefer vegetarian food—and I really just don’t like eating shellfish. I reject any kind of cruelty toward animals or discriminatory behavior toward people.

I’m considering building up a freelance life in Hamburg, Germany, and maybe eventually starting a new chapter in Sweden or Norway (?).

I’m not afraid of hard, dirty work when it comes to volunteer projects. However, I do hope to have a few hours of energy left at the end of the day so I can keep writing—whatever I may be working on at the time.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Apart from my professional experience as a surgical assistant, which won’t be of any need as a workawayer, I have experience in giving art workshops, writing and painting of course, teaching special needs kids, dog sitting, doing minor renovations and repairs in and around the house, excellent household management, maintaining a professional demeanor in service jobs such as waiting tables, and I have lifelong experience with handling horses of any size (i’m interested in getting my own horse and getting into horse-trekking/trail-riding)

My hobbies are cross country skiing, hiking, horse trekking, cycling, yoga, movies, books, theater, contemporary art, food and cooking, second hand furniture and second hand fashion.

I don’t hold rigid political views, as I value learning, listening, and understanding different perspectives — especially as an artist and writer. However, I feel deeply saddened by any form of body-shaming, racism, sexism, violence, or misogyny; these things truly break my heart. Writing about them is my way of coping and processing. I don’t like holding space for constant negativity or bickering for too long, but I’m very comfortable with meaningful conversations and authentic emotional responses to life.
