* Although this is a couples account, I'm temporarily using it as a solo account for Somer - just while Finn finishes his Engineering course in England!*

Hello, it's Somer :) I'm a 24 year old girl from England.
I'm currently on the lookout for a Workaway experience in Europe during April that will help me make connections with interesting people, improve my language skills and work outside. I have a particular interest in working with horses and learning western style riding and natural horsemanship. I'm hoping that I can find a workaway host that can help me learn the basics and experience the lifestyle that accompanies this type of work. I love to be outside in nature, and I'm not afraid of hard, tiring or dirty work!

I studied Spanish at school so I have a good basic knowledge of the language, but I would love to try and learn Italian or French too. I also like cooking healthy meals and keeping fit and active - I do lots of sports like trail running, watersports and swimming. During the summer I work as a beach lifeguard, so I have good water skills and first aid medical experience too. I also have a University degree in fashion , so I can sew and use a sewing machine to mend and make clothes! I also love knitting , especially outdoors. I have shared living spaces before , (I worked as an au pair in Australia for 6 months and share rooms on Airbnb/hostels) so I am considerate, easy going and tidy. I have experience looking after animals (I grew up with dogs, cats and pet rabbits in the house) ...but I have a big passion for horses without much experience, so this is something I would love to improve!

Last year me and my partner Finn (who usually shares this account with me) had a great experience with Workaway in New Zealand , where we stayed with two very lovely host households and enjoyed working on their land. We stayed on an off-grid homestead as well as a dairy farm, where our duties included clearing large areas overgrown plants, shovelling and moving earth and repairing fences, among other cleaning and gardening jobs.

Overall , I really enjoy the experience meeting great people, being able to experience a different lifestyle and culture , and getting the opportunity to improve my land skills and work outside! In the future I would like to have my own land/homestead, so I am keen to learn anything to do with land management, farming and animal husbandry.

Somer:
I'm happy to do any physically hard jobs as I'm fit and healthy, I don't mind mucking in and getting my hands dirty. I can cook, clean and look after children (I used to be an au pair). I can also fix clothes by hand or on a sewing machine . I have worked in cafes and a coffee roastery, so I'm also very good at making coffee! I also have experience driving cars, trucks with trailers and driving quad bikes , as well as good first aid skills .
