  • Description

    Dear brothers and sisters,

    Let's meet and get to experience the present moment together. This is going to be wonderful !

    Every volunteering experience is an opportunity of meeting more like-minded people. An opportunity of getting out of one's comfort zone, thus an opportunity to grow.

    It turns out we have so much in common, and often deeper connections and friendships are realised. I have travelled to more than 30 countries on 4 continents, and from time to time volunteered at organic farms, homesteads and retreat centres in 12 of these countries.

    Some of my main interests revolve around: Mother Nature, meditation, mindfulness, cycling, basketball, healthy living, plant-based cooking, organic no-dig gardening, calligraphy, travel.

    Would be happy to teach : meditation, Foundation Training, Qi-Gong, plant-based cooking, no-dig gardening.

    If a host is interested to have a vegetable garden or already has one, they can benefit from my knowledge and skills in this field. Especially in horticulture and the no-dig gardening method, where my main focus is working together with nature and in harmony with it.
    Is it possible to have a wonderful, abundant garden, without disturbing the soil by repeatedly tilling it? The answer is YES. There are many benefits from using this friendly method:
    - by continuously mulching and feeding the soil and by letting it be, it gets healthier and healthier. Healthy soil means healthy plants. Building up and maintaining a healthy soil, is the foundation for having robust and resilient plants that are growing well. A robust and healthy plant is not attracting any of the so called, pests. It's proven that pests are aiming only for those weaker and sick plants. This soil can be very rich. It has more life, activity and diversity of microorganisms, insects, worms, fungi, etc. By not disturbing the soil, the mycelia (the incredible fungi network in the soil) keeps expanding and thriving. Moreover, the layer of hummus is slowly but surely building up. This will surely benefit not only us (the ones cultivating this land and all the people that are fed with the respective harvest), but also the generations to come;
    - by having the soil covered at all times, there is more moisture retained, thus less watering needed;
    - there is much less grass and "weeds" coming up (the layer of mulch has to be maintained thick). With time, there is less and less weeding necessary. How wonderful !
    - less work and less energy spent. Why does it have to be so hard to keep up with all the work in our garden? Keeping up with the weeds can be really tough !! Gardening and growing vegetables is not supposed to be a struggle, but a joy. In fact, It is one of nature's greatest wonders. When we work with nature and not against it, there is less work, less suffering for all beings involved, and more time to do other things. One of these is enjoying the results and all the abundant harvests ! :)

    If you, as a host, are using (or wants me to use) the tractor, the rototiller or any tilling hand tools, please understand that you cannot count on my help. Also, please do not ask me to use any other gardening machines, chainsaws, etc that run on fossil fuels and are very noisy. So, please have this in mind before inviting me over to help or accepting my request. Thank you !

    Gandhi's words "Be the change you wish to see in the world" are a constant reminder and a true inspiration on my spiritual path. The challenge is to put these words into real actions :)
