Ciao hosts,

We are Colum and Duanna, a lively and friendly young couple from Ireland. We're excited to do some volunteering over the winter months so we can learn new skills, share some of our own, and spend quality time together! We're quite sociable and look forward to joining your family:)

About us individually...

Colum - I'm an enthusiastic and inquisitive 25 year old from Dublin, taking a break from 9-5 work life so I can gain some perspective on life and acquire new practical skills. I quite like creating and building, and while I'm relatively inexperienced, I'm a fast and eager learner! I hope to become quite handy so I'll be able to fix everything, or most things, when I'm older.

Duanna - Hello, I'm Duanna, a twenty-two-year-old recent Graphic Design graduate. During the workaway, I am eager to spend some time in nature and immerse myself in new cultures and experiences. With a strong foundation in graphic design and art, I'm excited to contribute my skills while also learning and growing. I am also happy to throw myself into non-creative and hands-on projects!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Colum- Some of my better skills would be cooking (I've done this for big groups at hostels, my old climbing association and other volunteering groups), organiser (big climbing trips), programming (for data analytics), and I worked in a restaurant so gained some skills there (bartending, barista, waiting).

I have learned some good practical skills in recent volunteering projects - roof tiling, using chainsaws for deforestation (necessary for deforestation), grasscutter, and harvesting fruit and vegetables.


Duanna

Painting/drawing- I love to paint whether that’s with watercolour, acrlyic, oil, or gouache. My strongest skill and what I enjoy most would probably be painting or drawing portraits. I would be happy to teach you or your children the basics of drawing or painting! Or even spend my workaway producing a portrait/mural for you!

Screen Printing/Risograph Printing/Book Design and Binding- I have gained knowledge of different printing techniques during my final year of college where I designed and produced a variety of printed visual communication (information booklets, posters etc.) If you hold events or run a small business, I could help you produce advertising to promote yourself.

Digital design/Typography- I am well-versed in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. I have won awards for my branding design and book design.

Sewing/fixing clothes- My mum worked in costume design and taught me how to use a sewing machine and the basics of dressmaking.

Gardening and looking after animals- Growing up in the countryside gardening and looking after animals (rip my chickens that got killed by a fox) was a big part of my childhood, I am really excited to explore this side of me again during the workaway as I now live in the city.

Colum- I love nice and chill past-times like cooking, listening to music and reading. I'm also very energetic so I need a physical outlet (mostly single-pitch climbing or running).

Duanna- I love creative projects like painting and drawing but most of all I love to be social, go to live music or dance!
