  • Description

    Hello :)

My name is Aja, and if I had to describe myself in one word, it would be curious. I’m constantly drawn to new places, ideas, and ways of living. I love learning by doing, especially when it involves stepping outside of my comfort zone, trying something unfamiliar, and seeing the world (and myself) from a new angle.

Right now, I’m living in Amsterdam, where I’m studying an interdisciplinary bachelor’s in Politics, Psychology, Law, and Economics. I’m especially interested in social psychology and the ways we understand and influence one another. But while I enjoy what I’m studying, I’ve always known that I’m not really a city person and I often find myself longing for quiet, nature, and the kind of stillness you can’t find among traffic and notifications.

Over the past year, I’ve become fascinated by trees and the underground networks of mycelium, the way nature quietly communicates and supports itself beneath the surface. That’s the kind of connection I’m drawn to: something deeper, more grounded, and slower. I dream of finding a place where I can unplug from the digital world for a bit and contribute to something meaningful, even if it’s simple day-to-day tasks that help someone else’s project or life flow more easily.

Outside of studying, I spend most of my time reading, creating, or wandering outdoors. The book Beartown by Fredrik Backman deeply moved me and actually inspired me to travel to Sweden. I’m currently reading The Overstory and Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. I play piano, I draw, and I’ve recently picked up crocheting. I enjoy trying all kinds of creative activities, and I love collecting little treasures from nature such as feathers, stones, colorful leaves in autumn or anything else that catches my eye.

I also enjoy horseback riding (still learning!), going to reptile expos, and rescuing plants that people have thrown out, trying to bring them back to life. Lately I have befriended a pair of crows I see regularly on walks with my dog, Maki.

  • Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I was working as an au pair for two children aged 4 and 6 in London, but my time there was cut short by COVID, and I returned to Slovenia to spend quarantine with my family. I am also the oldest of three sisters, so I am comfortable looking after children. I know how to keep them entertained, support their routines, and create a calm, caring environment that helps them feel safe and heard.
I’m also good with animals and have done some pet sitting on the side. I also own a dog Maki and a bearded dragon Bobinski.

Over the past few years, I’ve also been tutoring primary school children with studying difficulties (ages 10–14) in basic English and Math, which has taught me a lot about patience and adapting creativity.

I’m especially drawn to projects that involve imagination, community, or nature. While I’m not the strongest physically, I’m open to hands-on work and enjoy a good challenge. I learn quickly, especially when I feel connected to what I’m doing or when it’s part of something meaningful.

I’m happy to help with daily tasks like cooking, cleaning, and gardening, whatever’s needed to support the flow of the space I’m in. More than anything, I like being part of something, contributing however I can, and learning as I go.
