Description

We are Syrus, Rachel, and Flora (our fluffy canine companion).

We are a couple in our early thirties looking to see a bit more of the world and get involved with some projects we wouldn't otherwise have access to.

I, (Syrus) live in my self-built motor-home all year round working on the Isle of Skye as a campsite warden during the summer and travelling to warmer pastures during the winter. I've lived in my van for about 6 years and followed this migratory pattern for 5 years.

Syrus is talkative, curious, and eager to talk about most subjects with a particular passion for martial arts and positive psychology.

Rachel has a house on Skye but has been bitten hard by the travel bug and gets away when the opportunity arises, keeping busy with odd jobs and a lot of gardening when home.

We're heading to Italy and the Balkans in November 2023, and whilst we expect to have our time taken up with exploring (it'll be our first time) it may be nice to make contacts for future visits.

We're across to the Peloponnese in December where we had originally planned to see and stay with family, but unfortunately they're now unable to travel. We're looking for a Workaway from mid December to the start of 2024, around two weeks.

After Greece we'll be heading back to Italy and across to Morocco. We're planning a relaxed route down the coast but are happy to get in touch with hosts and helpers alike.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Syrus is well versed in administration and customer service through a number of previous job roles, holds a black belt in Karate, and graduated with a degree in Psychology. Chatty about most humanities subjects, and keen to learn about new cultures as well as sharing his own. He's a fast learner and happy to turn his hand to most things with an outside the box way of thinking.
Also not averse to a bit of manual labour!

Rachel trained as an outdoor adventure guide and has a great knowledge of path-finding, foraging, and several adventure sports. She's a keen gardener at home and lives with a high degree of self-sufficiency from her own produce. Rachel is a definite do-er, whilst others are discussing a task or making a coffee she will already be quietly working away and be nearing completion.

We both have experience caring for dogs, cats, and chickens, Rachel has cared for horses, and Syrus has cared for rats in the past.

We are nature and animal lovers and enjoy spending time in the wilderness/outdoors, we both enjoy medium-long hikes (as does Flora!), Syrus likes wild swimming and Rachel enjoys kayaking, and amateur caving (ask her about Créte!).

We love getting to know new people but find constant socialisation tires us out so we need a little recharge time every now and then as we are both naturally introverts!
