Hey!

My name is Sam. Having grown up out on the East Coast, I'm currently on a cross-country road trip that started out West and is gradually making its way back home, looking to explore and help out with different projects and communities along the way. I've got previous experience with work-exchange programs in the past, having started off my journey working at a hostel, and found a real passion for the Workaway experience as I continued to explore it. As for some personal information about me, I'm a very social person with a big interest in the arts as a whole, and a big part of this journey for me is the people I meet along the way and the passions, interests and knowledge they have to share. Every person, place, and project are different, and I know no two stops along the way are going to be the same, which is the most exciting part.
And just for some trivia, I'm a huge hockey fan, I used to figure skate, I can walk further than almost anyone I know, I've van lifed in the past, and I'm an immense fan of David Bowie. Go Bruins!

I've spent a little time studying Norwegian and Latin and have a degree in English and Communication, meaning I can assist non-native speakers with learning the language. There's a variety of different languages beyond Norwegian and Latin, though, that I've always wanted to learn - basically whatever you have to offer from your home culture, I would love to get to better know!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I have extensive hospitality and hotel/hostel experience, from housekeeping matters to reception and so on. In addition, I've done a good amount of outdoors work at farms and co-ops in the past, including such tasks as planting, harvesting and landscaping. Beyond this, I have years of experience with various front-of-house service matters, such as bartending, serving, and reception, with a pretty extensive knowledge specifically of bartending and mixology.
Outside of work skills, I was a figure skater in the past and would love to share my knowledge from this skill and, having gone to college for English and Communications, am able to help with people wishing to learn more about the English language.

Though I haven't been everywhere, I consider myself an accomplished traveler at this point, having traveled all around the United States and even overseas a time or two. At the moment, I've been on the road about seven months, having spent parts of that time van-lifeing, parts of it doing Workaways, and parts just road-bumming it! Travel is my favorite way of living, and I hope to continue doing it for a long time!
