Description
My husband John and I are Australian writers who love to travel. We took the ‘long way’ over to live and work in the UK, backpacking for a year and hiking the Camino de Santiago, before settling into West London for several years where we worked in hospitality. John is a Geologist by trade, and I am a trained journalist and marketer. Together, we love hiking, fossicking antique and charity shops, listening to jazz and taking film and digital photography.
We are experienced Workaways and seasoned travellers, who genuinely love to meet new people and enjoy a good days work.

We stayed at this farm for a few weeks and enjoyed this quintessential Australian coastal property, sitting high amongst bushland looking east over the sea. Bill is a colourful character who warmly hosted us, along with his motley crew of goats, alapacas, geese, chickens, guinea fowl and peacocks. Brilliant couple who really got involved and managed a large group of volunteers on a complex restoration of a highly listed historic building. Amelia and John complemented each other very well and covered many tasks , as well as organising the team. Great energy and lovely people to be around . We stayed at Sand for 9 weeks and worked on a huge variety of tasks to support this ambitious renovation and restoration project. From strategy, project management and marketing, to interior design, sourcing antiques, construction and cleaning, we learnt a great deal and had ample opportunity to apply our own skills and talents.

We stayed with Kevin for a few weeks on his off-grid property in Somerset. He is a great bloke and we had a wonderful time helping maintain the garden, buildings and develop music and arts festivals. He was generous with his time and showed us the surrounding area, including Glastonbury Tor, and we shared good conversation over hearty meals with… read more

I stayed with Nicky for around two weeks on her lovely property in Burgundy, helping maintain her home and garden. As a wonderful host and a great cook, she helped me sample the style, people and cuisine of village life in rural France. Her lively conversation and wit made it a most memorable experience. I spent a month there and really enjoyed living in such a beautiful place. Work was a mix of hotel management and hospitality tasks; housekeeping and cleaning primarily, working in the cafe and bar, and during weddings. The staff accomodation was a highlight, brand new and spacious, waking up to birdsong and amongst nature. For anyone who loves… read more

I felt reassured that they were loving to my pets, they kept in touch sending photos and texts of walks they took Bodhi on.
