Description

My name is Wouter, I'm 37 years old and born and raised in Bruges, Belgium. After finishing an interesting but not well thought through education in Criminological sciences I started finding my own way. I was then 25 years old. I always worked temporary so I could continue making (travel)plans. Long term commitments (either to a place, a person or a project) don't necessarily frighten me but my interests are varied and there is much to do, so much to see... Paid work has hence mostly been functional, to raise a budget.

I live for the outdoors. Nature inspires me.

I enjoy learning new things and meeting new people. I think it's a big part of what life is all about.

Enriching yourself is the real challenge and the potential to do so has never been greater (hence my enthusiasm for a volunteering-platform like this!) I try to be aware of the privilege inherent to the wealthy region I come from, this effects my take on life in a way of really appreciating the personal freedom I often feel. A freedom that I sincerely wish to be everyone's reality one day.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

A pair of hands and a genuine curiosity to learn. Through the years I have gathered experience through many different jobs working as a gardener, teacher, construction worker, reception worker, garbage man, waiter/bartender and more. Many of skill are thus picked up in the past but luckily some things are a bit like riding a bike. (Wishful thinking?) My last professional endevour lasted about four years, I worked at an auction house handling mostly Chinese porcelain. On paper I haven't a specific set of skills but a very broad academic one, a master in criminological sciences. (sometimes useful when discussing certain topics).

I consider myself a tolerant and open minded person which results in an easy going, humorous personality. I've grown quite independent and often go solo. I can very much appreciate peace and quiet. At the same time I see the value of other people's company and community.
