Hi!

Wieke: At the moment I am studying textile design in Brussels. This is the city where I grew up, but the past 6 years I have been living abroad (Berlin, Paris, Netherlands, Switzerland, Bahrain), where I was studying and working in architecture.

Robin: At the moment I am living in Finland as a part of my master in Architecture, living on a beautiful island in Helsinki, going swimming every day in the frozen lake. I grew up in between the Dutch, Belgian and German culture.

We met on the first day of studying Architecture in the Netherlands, 6 years ago, and have been close friends ever since. We both very much enjoy moving between different places, and we always manage to visit each other and we made a lot of amazing travels. The most memorable of them was our trip for two months through South-Korea. Crossing the country with trains, busses, ferries and hitchhiking with a tent, we saw the most beautiful remote villages and landscapes at the seaside and in the mountains, as well as the impressive huge cities.

Now it is time for our next travel, which is Japan. We will be visiting our dear friend in Tokyo and will then want to explore the rest of the country and its nature. We really enjoy doing this through workaway, because it allows us to stay at more remote places, and share meals where we can ask loads of questions :) and maybe learn also how to cook some local dishes. As we both like to be active, we actually enjoy to help with the work needed.

Workaway is also a great way for us to gain practical knowledge in the architecture field, like we did together before in the Jirisan mountains in Korea (restoration of a hanok house) and Wieke in Tuscany (Italy) (restoration of an old farm). Next to construction, both of the workaways also focussed on small scale agriculture and the preparation of food. We often participated in other construction workshops, for example building a music stage.

We are both very passionate about architecture and restoration, understanding things by working with our hands and designing through simple, small scale adjustments. We love (analogue) photography and making video's. And being in nature: hiking, cycling and swimming in natural water (doesn't matter which season :) ).

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

We have some skills in (graphic) design and construction, and an eye for detail and precise jobs.

We speak fluent Dutch and English and Robin speaks fluent german also, and we both speak some French.

We are autodidactic in photography and making videos and could thereby help with documenting things.

Most of all we are enthusiastic, hands-on and eager to learn.
