I grew up in the Dominican Republic and so sunshine and ocean and the sound of leaves rustling with the breeze, especially coconut trees, feels like home to me. I have always worked across languages and cultures, as an educator and an interpreter and I am motivated to look for ways to find what we all have in common. I love helping people, particularly in navigating meaning in another language, and in learning new things. I especially love teaching, with experience from 4 year olds to adults, and my all time favorites are kindergarten kids - they are so open to exploring, so curious and lively. My other huge passion is textiles and color.

I am interested in untangling my Portuguese accent. After years of working with both Brazilian and Portuguese students my accent has traces of both. I would enjoy spending some time immersed in Brazil to "settle" my accent again. I would also enjoy immersing in a French speaking environment. I am completely comfortable in Spanish so I would be interested also in working in Spanish speaking countries.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I have taught grades K through 8, I have supervised teachers and high school programs for bilingual education, ESL and World Languages. I have mentored and trained teachers in those areas as well as written curriculum for the teaching of foreign languages for grades K through 12. Presently I work as an interpreter for meetings regarding Individual Education Plans, training for parents, and other events with non-English speaking parents. I speak English, Spanish, Portuguese and French, and have taught academic content in the first three.
