Helllooo !

I'm a french-vietnamese girl who lives in Paris. The weather is very bad here, it's freezing like hell and I feel like I could use some sun and good vibes. ☀️

I'm a 31 years old teacher and things aren't always easy at work. Kids can be difficult. I'm travelling because I want to feel free and alive.

I'm easy-going (if I got enough sleep. Otherwise I'm a grumposaur the first 30 mns. After coffee or tea things are much better).

I love reading, Harry Potter, kayaking, yoga, eating (Really LOVE eating), sleeping, sunny days, tea, coconut water, taking tons of pictures and meeting people.

I got the travel virus in 2010 and it's getting worst. I've traveled quite a lot since then, mainly through Asia, Europe, North Africa and South America but I always feel like I want to see more.

I'd love to discover a country I've never been to or go back to a place I have loved.

I'm very curious and that's why I'm on this website. I've visited loads of profiles and people here have such an incredible life ! Makes me want to be part of it. ❤️

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
* I used to be an aupair for 8 months in Copenhagen so basically my mop and hoven were my bestfriends. Cleaning, cooking, helping in the house is something I feel able to do.

* I can also take care of kids since I've been a teacher for 5 years and till then nobody's dead. I love kids most of the time. I taught in a new school in Ghana and loved it.

* I could also take care of animals ; I used to live in a house with 11 chicken, 2 cats and 1 dog and I don't really know how to take care of other animals but I'd love to learn. During my workaway experiences, I've walked the dog in Estonia, in Albania and Latvia.

* I worked in a banana garden in Gambia, a potato field in Estonia, and all of the trees and plants were alive when I left.

We are always grateful to host volunteers who genuinely care about animals and want to contribute to our mission. We have welcomed dozens of people from all over the world, many of whom have had wonderful experiences and have even returned to visit. Unfortunately, not every experience is a perfect fit, and this was one of those cases.

From the… read more start, there was little connection between us and this volunteer, despite our efforts to make her feel welcome, including picking her up from the airport. While we always try to accommodate our volunteers, it is important to understand that this is not a traditional household—it is a rescue shelter where we care for many animals, including kittens in need. This comes with inevitable challenges, such as occasional odors, cleaning routines, and unexpected messes, all of which are part of daily life in an animal rescue.

Regarding the volunteer’s living space, the room had been recently painted, and while it is used for storage, it remains a comfortable space. However, she expressed a strong desire to discard personal belongings that were sentimental and not hers to remove. Additionally, removing the litter boxes from the room without considering the resident cats led to accidents, which were not always handled responsibly—such as leaving soiled bedding in shared spaces instead of cleaning it.

Meals are typically a communal and social experience in our home, and we were looking forward to learning about her culture through her cooking. However, she preferred to eat alone and never shared, even when using our supplies, which was unusual compared to our past volunteers.

While she did assist with some painting, it was not completed to the necessary standard, and more paint was wasted than used effectively. For this reason, we asked her to stop. When the opportunity arose to move to another house, she chose to leave and did not return to help at our main location, unlike other volunteers who continued coming back daily to assist.

Based on our experience, while she may like animals, she may not be comfortable with the realities of caring for them daily. Rescue work is demanding, unpredictable, and requires both independence and adaptability. This is the first time we’ve encountered such a situation, and we regret that it wasn’t a positive match. However, it’s worth noting that after leaving, she asked to stay again before her departure, which suggests her stay wasn’t as unbearable as described.

We understand that not every experience will suit every person, but our expectations and daily tasks are clearly outlined. As with caring for babies, cleaning up after animals is simply part of the responsibility. We appreciate every volunteer who truly commits to helping and wish her the best in her future travels.

María and Martin are generous, kind, and attentive hosts who live in a beautiful house surrounded by an equally stunning garden. I loved this place, especially during sunrise and sunset. After work, I could swim in the pool, read under the trees, and sunbathe on the loungers. It’s paradise on earth.

I was impressed by the generous portions served… read more at the table and the quality of the meat. Likewise, María’s thoughtful gestures, such as buying us snacks, taking us to the village for a free walking tour, and bringing us to a leather workshop, touched me because not all hosts go out of their way to make their Workawayers feel so welcome.

María speaks fluent English and was happy to translate from English to Spanish when needed. Martin speaks a little English and very slowly in Spanish to match my level. He is adorable and hilarious. Martin’s friends, Dante and Georges, are just as kind and funny, and they took care of me when I caught a cold.

I was lucky to work with Will, another volunteer, who has a very inspiring outlook on life. He is also hardworking and organized, which was motivating.

Marina, the plant specialist, came twice a week to work with us. She is a very gentle and kind person, but also incredibly passionate—she showed us many medicinal plants, let us listen to birdsongs, and shared so much knowledge.

We filled and emptied several trucks of dead branches and tree trunks, cut down dead trees, dug into the compost to collect buckets of compost for the native trees, dug oyas around plants to help them retain water, watered, weeded… The work was always interesting and varied every day. I love gardening and being in nature, and I was happy to see the progress we made.

What was difficult for me was adjusting to the schedule, as we woke up early to work before the heat arrived and went to bed late since Argentinians dine late. Also, we had only one day off per week, whereas I’m used to having two. The tasks were very physical, so I got tired quickly and carried that fatigue throughout my stay. Luckily, on the day I felt the sickest, I was able to rest, and my teammate Will took care of the work alone. 💪🏾

When I told Maria about that, she made sure we ate a little bit earlier the nights before we started at 6am and gave us our Saturday afternoon so we could all rest, which i'm grateful for.

I highly recommend this Workaway to food lovers, nature and photography enthusiasts, and those who want to experience the life of Argentine gauchos.

Tham and her friends were a pleasure to have at ours. They cooked us some wonderful meals and were generally great people to be around. We had a very busy week and they helped with some really important jobs and made it much more manageable! We were sad they could only stay for a week and hope they will come again.

Helen and her family made sure I felt good in Have. They prepared some specialties so I can taste, they gave me a nice and cozy room with a big bed, they explained many things about the culture. They made sure I didn't lack of anything and were very nice and welcoming.

Helen is a… read more very strong and free-spirit woman and I loved sharing some conversations with her. She has many ideas and projects and she really wants to improve things around Have. She's also very funny, she just enjoys life and it's nice to be around her.

In the family, there's Helen's mom who also speaks good English, Helen's sister Esther who made sure I could taste the food specialities and Godwin who's 3 years old and who is so funny and adorable. I love this kid.

The house was very nice, I liked living in nature. It's different from France of course, taking a shower with a bucket and all, but the place is very clean and comfy. Advice : Bring a bottle of water on your own so you can reload it at the tap. The water is drinkable.

The job was very nice, even if difficult. I was the first teacher at the school project so at first I had no board and the kids had no tables to write on. I also helped providing some furnitures for the kids. The kids are very serious and want to learn. I love my job as a teacher in France and I loved it there, in Ghana.

If traveling alone, I would advice to take two or three books and charge the 4G data and download some movies on your phone because sometimes Helene is busy at her moms shop or working for the association. I spent some time on my own and it was nice having a book to read under the mango tree. Also, sometimes the family would speak in the dialect, éwé, which I of course don't understand so it's nice to have a book to read while they discuss on family matters.

I would also adice to bring a scarf or something to cover the mouth and nose because the place is very dusty. And a detergent to clean the clothes because, because of the dust, the clothes get dirty quite fast.

Also, you should change money or find an ATM before coming because there's an ATM around Have but not directly in Have.

Around Have, there's a nice monkey sanctuary. Bring the bananas to feed the monkeys because its quite expensive if you buy at the sanctuary. There's also a nice waterfall.. Take your swimsuit but the water is cold like hell. The walk till the waterfall is beautiful. It's in the forest, surround bumy mountains. There's also a lake where you can swim.

I stayed with Sebastian, Wotan and Rosa for 12 days and loved it. I guess the experience is different in summer and autumn, cause I stayed in October and it was just the four of us most of the time.
