Hello!

We are Hazal and Soner from Istanbul, Turkey. We are both students and we study Economics and Political Sciences.

We have and are working in various projects right now! Such as:

-Teaching Turkish to refugee children in Turkey.
-European Solidarity Corps project on educating children in Bosnia.
-Working at NGOs in Kenya, teaching maths to high school students.
-Work away experience at a campsite in Montenegro.
-Leading a student summit on Green Energy.
-Organising the academic programme of a student exchange between two universities from Germany and Istanbul.

Hazal is the interesting one!

She loves to travel, she tries to go somewhere far away every summer; plus, she loves learning about new cuisines so that she can experience them, at least to some degree, in Istanbul!

She is especially interested in Japanese culture; she loves watching anime and reading manga.

She loves taking long walks, especially when it involves mountains or hills, and is very keen on learning how to do proper camping.

Soner is the funny one! (Arguably)

He likes internal topics a lot, such as reading on politics, philosophy, history, architecture and other social science theories, yes he is a nerd. But we would agree that he is one fun nerd to talk to.

He is very interested in social differences between different groups, and fascinated by the stories behind cultures.

Apart from that he can play bass guitar very well and ordinary (boring) guitar to some degree, he has even played with a band for 6 years, in which they have recorded 6 singles and an EP.

Soner also has a huge interest for DIY projects, although this interest is yet to be crowned with a proper know-how.

We believe that interaction with different peoples and cultures is very important for mutual development. We really want to take part and help facilitate this development. We think Workaway is one of the easiest outlooks for such a desire.

We want to help people that are left disadvantaged by history and the current world system. In light of this, we believe that via volunteering internationally; we can better understand these social, political and economic processes.

-Organising Programmes
-Teaching; Language, General Knowledge, Maths etc.

In some areas, even though we are not proficient we would like to improve ourselves. Such as in programming languages like Python, R and Stata.

We are also possessing individual skills and knowledge.

Hazal can be of help in:
