Description
I have always liked the concept of the 'kindness of strangers' and am attracted by the ethos of Workaway which enables hosts and volunteers to respectfully work together, sharing experiences while achieving a set of shared goals. I benefitted enormously from this ethos in my 20s when I took part in international volunteer workcamps which brought together people from a divided Europe, enabling us to find and experience our common humanity whilst engaged in useful community projects.
I have experienced the enormous satisfaction of being a volunteer, helping someone who is previously unknown to achieve beneficial tasks, so this is an exchange that I look forward to. I'm curious about other people's experiences and am glad to have the opportunity to share my own in a spirit of openness and respect.

During my week or so of working as a volunteer in France I would very much like to have the opportunity to speak and improve my spoken French.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
During my career I've had the privilege of being a BBC radio producer making programmes about people and landscape, literature, history, food, farming and the environment. This has made me a good listener, interested in hearing about the experiences and insights of others from different walks of life to my own. I love the satisfaction of undertaking regular domestic tasks required of Workaway volunteers such as cooking and working outdoors. I enjoy undertaking all manner of tasks whether in the kitchen and the garden, or more practical ones like DIY or decorating.

I love walking in the countryside, cycling and exploring new places. I have a particular love of old French towns when nothing is better than visiting a farmers' market and cafes, walking the streets. I like playing cards and listening to all kinds of music from classical to funk and soul.
