Hello!

My name is Sharon, and I'm a Korean-American traveler. I am currently in New Zealand for my working holiday visa, and would like to visit the South Island for summer. My goal this year is to see the lupin flowers!

I'm on my third year backpacking (while I figure out my career) and am always looking for opportunities to travel and meet new people. I love learning and trying new things, especially if it's related to food, culture, and practical skills. It's nice to meet you!

Right now I am teaching English virtually on a part time basis, but I used to work in marketing/social media for a skincare brand in New York City.

My volunteer experiences:
- 2 months homestay help (gardening, mowing lawns, general tidying) in Northland, New Zealand
- 3 weeks at a hostel (housekeeping) in Quentar, Spain
- 7 weeks at a surf lodge in Aljezur, Portugal
- 3 weeks at a hostel (housekeeping) in Scotland
- 3 months at a surf & yoga camp (reception) in Imsouane, Morocco
- 1 month in France (split between a farmstay and homestay - gardening)
- 3 weeks at 2 hostels in Koh Rong, Cambodia (reception + housekeeping)
- 6 weeks with a family in Bali, Indonesia - afterschool tutoring

I love animals, plants, writing, and observing new places and learning new languages. My favorite way to explore new places is by walking around town and visiting outdoor local markets.

I'm fluent in English and Korean, and I'm intermediate in French.

I love animals of all kinds!

I enjoy working with my hands - I'm self-taught in calligraphy and I can be crafty with anything related to art, painting, etc.

Can take care of indoor plants, but would love to learn more about outdoor gardening/harvesting, farming, etc.

What started as a last-minute volunteer opportunity ended up being an incredibly memorable 2 months. I spent my time shifting between Neville's place in the bush, and Nora's house for mowing lawns and gardening. I also helped out a few times at his mom's place with her lovely garden. Sharon was our first workaway helper and was delightful. She was energetic and thoughtful with the kids and respected the needs and culture of our house hold. She was a good communicator and plenty of initiative. Our only disappointment was that she was only able to stay a week.

I spent a fun month with Tamara, Josh, and the girls! Most of the help they needed was watching their 3-year old Lacie, who is bright and bubbly. Sharon was an absolutely beautiful soul! We loved hosting her. Super flexible and took the time get to know each of the kiddies individually. Initially going to stay for 4 weeks but she decided to extended as we had availability which we were so thankful for! Amazing tutor aswell 🌸 wish her the best on her travels!
