Hi there! My name is Simone and I'm a 27-year-old woman from The Netherlands. In September last year I decided to take a break from my career in the Music Industry to travel through volunteering full-time.
I had been working in music for over 7 years and really loved working in the arts, but as somebody who deeply loves nature, meeting new people, and gaining new experiences, I felt it was time to take a break from the 9-5 life and experience the nature of the world and meet all kinds of different people. After an absolutely beautiful first experience with Workaway, I was inspired to achieve this by quitting my job to travel to various Workaway locations for a while. I can't wait to see what my next adventure will be (:
When I am not working or spending time with people, I love to spend time with the arts or the outdoors. I appreciate just being present in the beauty of nature and doing nothing but admire it, but I also really love outdoor sports like hiking, rock climbing, and scuba diving. I am most in my zone when I am sculpting (clay, ceramics), love to read and write, and am always excited to explore new ways of creative expression.
I really look forward to experience different types of work during my upcoming Workaways. I love learning new skills, but some of my existing ones include gardening, cleaning and organizing (I have a good eye for the details), working with children, and (online) marketing. I also love any type of DIY project. I buy my furniture and clothes second-hand and love to shape them to my vision, and am always the first friend people call when they're moving house and need a helping hand for heavy lifting, painting, hanging lamps, etc.
But mostly, I am looking forward to meeting new people and discovering new places and ways of life. If you read my profile and think we could be a match, please don't hesitate to reach out! I am planning on traveling for a while, so would love to welcome any experience that feels right (:Centres d’intérêt

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
After having travelled to mostly permaculture communities in nature, I have gained a lot of skills in gardening and some in carpentry. Even before traveling I used to volunteer at a community garden and I always had a house filled with plants, so I have green fingers for sure.
I am pretty practical and am good with "DIY" type tasks. I’m experienced with a bunch of different (power) tools and am good at finding creative solutions to fix things. I can build things like shelves or a table, paint walls, hang a lamp, fix a bike, anything like that. And even if I haven't done it yet, I will figure out how to do it independently.
I can sew, am good at art/beautifying projects, and have organized a sculpting workshop where I prepared the clay from the soil and carved all tools from bamboo at a previous Workaway.
I have an education in Communications and Marketing, as well as over 7 years of experience working in Marketing. So if you have a business you need more visibility on, I could help you out.
And lastly, I am fluent in Dutch and English.Âge

Palmas is a very interesting person with a big heart for nature, people, the world in general really. He really makes sure you get a good experience of the area, local culture, and ensures you’ll have a great time. Diogo is a great host. He’s very sociable, has a really positive and light energy, and a big passion for his project, permaculture and sharing knowledge on the subject. So you’ll be able to learn a lot, and should take the opportunity to do so! He’s also one of those hosts who is genuinely… read more

The weather was ugly hot, so to beat the heat she was willing to start work a few days at 7:00a.m. Others days she just braved the heat to sand and tape-for-painting the metal cabin of the new boat. Not only that, but she is one of the best… read more
