Hey yall, my name is Shelby, I am from the United States. I traveled using workaway back in 2017/2018. I am currently traveling now.
I graduated from university with a degree in Therapeutic Recreation. This specialized in working with children and adults in our communities with or without disabilities. I have gained experience for the past 11 years with individuals with disabilities of all ages. I have worked with children in many different settings such as schools, camps, nanny & family. I love combining the outdoors & animals with the people I work with, it creates a different, more relaxed setting. I strive to have my own program one day incorporating equine therapy & nature.
I wish to learn more from new people, new cultures, new food, outdoor work; Maintenace, farm animals, gardening, and the ins and outs of maintaining the land. I have worked as a travel agent, in customer service/restaurants, with a tree trimming crew, on an olive farm, childcare, a group tour leader and much more. I am a fast learner; I enjoy cleaning and am not afraid to get dirty. I have been around horses all my life and hope to bring myself back to them.

Meeting new people and hearing their stories is my favorite way to learn. I look forward to indulging myself in the cultures I encounter. I want to travel as long as I can with these unique experiences through workaway. I know workaway will allow me to gain new skills, meet open-minded people, see cultures across the world and share my knowledge along the way as well.

I am currently doing a workaway in the Philippiens. Living with a community on an island helping build up the off grid farm. I am looking to spend my summer in Europe, I heard summer in Europe is the best. There seems to be many more options that I am being called to there. My mind and body are looking for more enlightenment with nature.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

The skills I have acquired are mainly people based skills. I can provide any personal care needs for an individual and can communicate effectively. I can provide labor and cleaning services, and the small amount of outdoor knowledge I have. I have worked with horses for a majority of my life at camps and through family farms. I feel comfortable around horses and providing therapy through them. I can provide another set of hands to learn any new set of skills presented in front of me.
