Hey there!

I'm Rita, a young woman with an itch to go out and explore in every possible occasion. Very curious by nature, always looking to learn more and to hear different life perspectives.

I grew up and studied in Coimbra, where I got my bachelor's in Art & Design. I did Erasmus during university in Poland and that's where my passion for solo traveling really blossomed. Once I started working a conventional 9 to 5 job in an office, I quickly realized this wasn't the lifestyle I wanted. That's when I left Portugal and lived in Bulgaria, Turkiye, Jordan and Greece all while doing volunteering in European projects.

Currently I'm a freelancer designer, tattoo artist and non-formal educator. I have vast experience with children because of my work as an Art teacher in kinder gardens and elementary schools. I consider myself a very patient, empathetic and tolerant person who is used to deal with many different personalities and stressful situations.

I'm living near the countryside and my dream is to be in a community with like-minded people, preferably in a permaculture off-grid farm. I've already joined this type of project and fell in love with this lifestyle, and would like to contribute to similar projects.

For the past 4 years I've only been using my bicycle to commute and to visit most places, I even got into a community bike shop and learned how to fix some stuff. Bikepacking has become one of my favorite ways to travel. Match that with my passion for camping and the outdoors, and you got the perfect combo!

I can teach Portuguese to whoever is interested. I love languages and am always open to learning some basic phrases in order to interact with the locals in the best way possible! I also learned a bit of Turkish a few years ago, would be nice to practice it so I don't forget it.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Arts and crafts are my jam! I really enjoy creating things with my hands: drawing, painting, sculpting, you name it. Most of the objects I create are made from repurposed materials, in an effort to reduce waste and prevent more stuff going to landfill.

Cooking is also a big passion of mine! I focus on vegan recipes, since that's the lifestyle I adopted about 13 years ago. I've cooked for groups and strive to make very nutritious, balanced, healthy meals.

Animal wise, I had a dog for 15 years and was a foster home for cats for a while. I'm used to petsitting for friends and family, and really enjoy going on long walks with dogs, playing and caring for animals. I don't have experience with other types of animals, but I'm looking forward to that!
