Holaaa!

I’m Risa, just quit my job and starting my trip in South America for a year or so starting with Chile! I’m super excited about this journey as this will be my first time in the area and is the place I always wanted to explore for a long time.

I’m originally from Japan where I spent most of my life so far, but also spent few years in Malaysia as a kid and did a school exchange in the US for a year. I started exploring the world when I was in university, since then I’ve been travelling as much as I can during holidays and in between works. I am easy going yet responsible and hard worker. I think I do a good job switching on when I am working and off when I am not :)

I love eating and drinking (especially beers and wines...), always keen to find hole-in-the-wall places where I can feel the local atmosphere. I also love cooking, always excited to visit local markets and try new ingredients and recipes. The other thing I’m passionate about is mountains, I usually I spend few nights in the tent while trekking, I appreciate all the beautiful sceneries and nature.

I was travelling domestically during the pandemic so this will be my first long trip oversea after 3 years which makes me so happy to be back out in the world. I cannot wait to explore the other side of the globe and learn different cultures, meet new people with good energy and see beautiful nature the world has to teach me.

I studied Spanish back in university and do have some basic knowledge but never had a chance to speak it. My goal is to absorb the language as much as possible including all the different accents and regional slangs.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

As I’m a very curious person, I’ve experienced many kinds of jobs since I was 16.

Longest job I had was working in a hostel, worked for 6 years and 3 years as a manager. There I learnt how to organize events, do tours, reception work, cleaning, handling troubles and claims, most importantly, how to make everyone feel like at home :) I also worked in a hotel and a mountain hut, so I know different levels of hospitality the place needs to offer.

My most recent job was upholsterer, where I repaired old furnitures. I know how to use basic tools and I also enjoy doing some crafts and DIYS, things to do with my hands.

Aside from my job, I also so do some graphic designs as my hobby. I like creating posters, ads, news letters, pops etc... I used to design goods like T-shirts and stickers as well for my previous job and for my friends so I'm more than happy to help in that area too if needed.
